A striking journey of Buddhism and the Himalayas.

Tibet is where most people first think of when you mention the word ‘Buddhism’; it’s the birthplace of the Dalai Lama, and the homeland of where most of the great Buddhist teachers across history studied before spreading their lessons throughout the world.

We start our Tibetan journey in Kathmandu, Nepal at the southern footsteps of the Himalayan Mountains.  (We start here in order to formalize our Tibet visas.)Kathmandu is a city with a long rich history, situated at the cross roads between India and China and sitting in natural basin surrounded by four sacred mountains. Here we will explore the beauty of the Boudhanath Stupa area and also the oldest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, Swayambhunath.

Boudhanath is one of the resting and prayer points on the ancient trading route from Tibet that even pre-dates the city of Kathmandu itself. Its massive mandala shape is one of the largest chortens in the world and dominates this part of Kathmandu’s skyline and now has over 50 monasteries built around it. Swayambhunath is just as special, for many Buddhist pilgrims this is the most important site to visit in their life. It’s origins date back to early 5th century BCE, here we will explore its many temples and connect to the depth of the symbolism of enlightenment and Buddhahood represented in its’ dome and pinnacles.

Mystical Tibet

Then we fly to Lhasa and explore the beautiful Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Norbulingka Palace. These four are amongst the most famous Buddhist places on the planet, with Potala being imposing and striking and Sera being one of the most stunning.

Our days beyond this take us on the road South to a variety of Tibet’s most amazing Buddhist monasteries, Samye, Tsetang, Gyantse Khumbum, Tashilumpo, Shakya and Ronbuk. Each monastery unique in its own way, each with a fascinating and compelling stories, and at each one we will have plenty of time to explore, connect, meditate and discuss their amazing qualities and energy. Some of them have ancient meditation caves, some with incredible prayer points, at some we will celebrate as we hang our own prayer flags, others we will sit in tranquility and contemplate the universe.

The Himalayas and Mount Everest!

Our journey takes us thru some of the most stunning scenery known to man, passing at the feet of the greatest mountains on the planet; Everest (8848m), Xixapangma (8012m), Makalu (8464m) Lhotse (8516m), and Cho Oyu(8153m).We will spend time at one of the 4 Holy lakes of Tibet, Yamdrok Tsol and even have time to feel the energy at Mount Everest base camp.

A Shift in Perception

Yes, this is truly an amazing journey, one based in the ancient epicenter of the Buddhist world and the mighty Himalayas, but also one that can truly inspire change in how we see the world.
