Shala is a Sanskrit word for home, the Yoga Shala at Villa Surya was created with this in mind and is exactly how you feel from the moment you step inside. This is a sacred and safe space to heal and transform. Situated on the rooftop of the villa, the Shala benefits from panoramic views of the surroundings, from the rugged mountains at the back to the crashing waves of the ocean to the front, so no matter what posture you find yourself in you will always be greeted with the natural beauty of our Moroccan landscape.

Each room is decorated uniquely in a Moroccan style. The ground is made of the so-called “beldi” (natural) handcrafted stones. The handmade wooden beds are what dreams are made of. The rooms are equipped with different light systems to make for every moment the right atmosphere.

Here you will experience delicious exotic vegetarian cuisine to ignite your senses.  The vegetables are delivered from an eco-agricultural place near Sidi-Ifni to ensure healthy nutrition and our fruits come from the local souk in Agadir. Everything is served and prepared with love.

Style

The style of yoga we share at Sacred Paths Yoga is a mindful vinyasa flow based practice that allows one to find connection and embark upon an insightful journey within. We link breath and movement to emphasize meditation and to find stillness in motion. This practice become a sacred prayer to our body, to access the stillness of the mind and to connect with spirit. The experience is deeply intentional as we honor yogic philosophy and invite our soul to look inward and find peace with what is present.

Our sequence is rooted in traditional Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa practices but has evolved to meet the needs of the modern yogi. We offer a holistic and well rounded approach, balancing the Yin and Yang, the passive and active, the lunar and solar, the feminine and masculine energies to leave one feeling centered and harmonious. Not only does this practice offer physical benefits, but it works on the energetic and spiritual forms as well, tapping into the wisdom of ancient yogic teachings while connecting to Earth Medicine and exploring the Elements as a path to transformation and Union with all that is.

We build a solid foundation for our students to then expand upon as they find their voices as teachers or in their own personal practice. We emphasis an embodied understanding of poses and alignment, intelligent sequencing and transitions while embracing grace, ease and fluidity. With this deeper awareness and understanding of the body, we can come into full alignment with mind, body, spirit and our life’s purpose.

In our yoga teacher training programs, we meet and exceed the requirements of Yoga Alliance for anatomy, techniques, philosophy, lifestyle, ethics, teaching methodology and practicum and beyond while creating a container for self inquiry and personal growth. While honoring the traditional forms of this practice, we explore the expansive nature of yoga and spirituality in all forms. Whether it is your intention to step into your calling as a yoga teacher or  to learn the foundations of yoga and deepen your practice, this program will be equally informative and transformative.

For many, this becomes a life changing experiencing as we set out to gain more clarity and empowerment on our life’s journey. While the core curriculum unites our offerings, each program is a unique experience of the wisdom and insights revealed from the particular facilitators as well as those souls that have been called to co-create this journey. Likewise, each sacred location offers deep ancient wisdom and cultural tradition that we will thread into the course. We offer deep gratitude for the spirit of the land for safeguarding and protecting these sacred spaces to heal and transform.

Practice

We view yoga as a spiritual practice, as a path to self-realization, union, bliss, conscious connection, deepened awareness and mindful living. Throughout this process we explore different paths to Union including movement, song, dance, chanting, ceremony and more! In this journey, we embody yogic living, fully immersing ourselves in the experience of living and breathing this practice on and off our mat with our beloved community as our unwaivering support system. This path asks for dedication, discipline and courage to look deep within to uncover our truth and our own authentic connection. Without our daily distractions, habits and patterns, a new way of perceiving the world is revealed.

Everyone is accepted, supported and encouraged through their process. Through our community we create a comfortable safe space to facilitate growth and expansion on all levels.

Daily Flow

The Sacred Paths Yoga 200hr YTT is a 21 day journey divided into four cycles of 4 days with a day off in between each. Throughout each cycle, we will use one of the four elements Earth, Water, Fire and Air as our guide and as the foundation of our experience for lessons, insights, ceremony and healing. Each cycle we go deeper into our journey of learning and revealing with this potent Earth Medicine.

We start each day with an intention, a spiritual lesson of the day, that we weave throughout the day’s teachings and live within our own personal practice. We begin each morning in a beautiful location connecting with nature and ourselves through sunrise meditation, pranayama and asana practice, honoring silence in this sacred time. This is followed by a yogic breakfast, nourishing our bodies and spirits with wholesome organic vegetarian food. The experience of the day is one of learning and living yogic theory and healing practices through interactive workshops, classes and dynamic group discussions. In the morning classes, we explore the fundamentals of yogic living, anatomy, meditation, cleansing practices, pranayama, Ayurveda and the ancient wisdom of the Yoga Sutras through interactive and comprehensive lectures. In the afternoon classes, we share Art of Teaching and Art of Touch/ Alignment in which students practice peer teaching. In the first half of the training, students learn and practice teaching our Sacred Flow sequence. We also take an in depth look at alignment, adjustments, benefits and contraindication of each pose. In the second half of the training, we will explore other yogic traditions (Hatha, Restorative, Yin), share the fundamentals of intelligent sequencing, theme weaving and study advanced poses and techniques. Students will also create their own full sequence from the tools provided, share through peer teaching and receive feedback from their peers and facilitators.

Each evening we close with Satsang, our sacred community gathering, which may be meditation, kirtan, chanting, sacred ceremony or a sharing circle to connect and release the day’s challenges, triumphs, insights and joys.

The day flows within a safe container, held and guided by experienced spaceholders in inspiring locations.
