Lake Atitlán, Guatemala is unlike any other destination. Known as the “jewel of the highlands,” it is one of the few places left in the world where the traditional Mayan people still thrive. There are dozens of water taxis that will transport you to the many different villages around the lake, each unique in style and culture. The lake itself sits about one mile above sea level and is surrounded by three majestic volcanoes. Lake Atitlán has captivated people for centuries; some even call it “The most beautiful lake in the world.” This very special retreat promises to provide a truly captivating, blissful, and peaceful experience.
Chrissy Gonzalez is a Chicago based yoga teacher, vegan foodie, blogger, traveler and animal lover. The onset of her love affair with yoga almost 20 years ago set in motion an active practice that has allowed her to guide others for over a decade. Her formal training began in 2002 with Yoga Works in Los Angeles, and since then she has completed over 700 hours of yoga alliance certified training. She mainly teaches alignment-based classes flowing with upbeat energy, harmonious movement and a positive outlook. Chrissy stays busy teaching several public classes throughout the city as well leading workshops and retreats around the world. She also loves teaching privates, especially because of the special connection this one on one format provides. In addition to teaching yoga, Chrissy is highly involved in several animal rescue and awareness programs. She founded The Yoga Pawject, a non-profit organization that leads several fundraising classes throughout the year. The discovery of yoga has evolved into a lifestyle far exceeding the margins of Chrissy’s yoga mat. Boundless and constantly transforming, her practice flows and adapts to her daily experience.
