Join with the Southern Dharma staff to help with end-of-season tasks in preparation for winter. Working meditation activities will include leaf raking, road maintenance, wood gathering, log splitting, kitchen maintenance, and end-of-season housekeeping tasks.

The Fall Work Weekend is structured as a silent two-night retreat with scheduled sitting meditation sessions each morning and evening and with ample free time to enjoy the natural beauty of the Southern Dharma campus. Participants will be given basic instruction in sitting meditation and mindful movement. Working meditation sessions will give participants the opportunity to practice mindfulness while engaging in everyday and seasonal work activities.

Southern Dharma will provide room, board (vegan cuisine), an introduction to Buddhist meditation, and the opportunity to serve our retreat community. Both beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome to participate.

Participants should bring indoor and outdoor work clothes, water-repellant work shoes or boots, indoor shoes or slippers, an outdoor hat, rain gear, and plenty of clothing layers to keep warm and comfortable through weather changes and fluctuating fall temperatures.

Free Retreat Givewaway

We love you. And because we do, we're giving away another free retreat.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Reconnecting with myself after a very crazy few months with a new baby! Just having that feeling of being grounded again. But also having an opportunity to connect with new amazing people. Getting exposed and Inspired by new (to me) yoga instructors (and community). Being in the presence of real, authentic and raw emotion (the whole spectrum).. So many reasons! Alyson

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
