Befriending Your Body & Mindful Eating

Rediscover the joy and ease of nourishing your body through this mindful eating retreat. Practicing mindful eating will help you to make wiser, more balanced food choices. Led by Dr. Susan Wnuk, Ph.D., C. Psych. and Chau Du, MSc., RYT, this retreat will focus on creating a new relationship with food and your body. You will be gently challenged to explore what nourishment means to you. By cultivating awareness and nourishment through various mindfulness practices, including eating and walking meditation and mindfulness of the breath and body, you will learn how to bring your eating and life back into balance.  Wnuk and Du integrate mindfulness practices with clinical psychology to guide you to connect with your inner and outer wisdom to make choices to nourish your body and mind. Additional practices to foster self-compassion and acceptance will be integrated. You will gain insight on the science of mindfulness and how these concepts can be applied to your daily life. An intimate and welcoming environment will encourage participants to share their experiences, ask questions and trouble-shoot their individual obstacles.

When we eat mindfully, we pay attention to all of our senses, including taste, appearance, aromas and physical sensations. You will leave the retreat with an awareness of your body’s signals of hunger and fullness, food preferences and will have identified how your history, culture and experience impacts your food choices.

Coverage for up to $500 for registered psychological services may be available through your extended health care plan or insurance. Please contact your insurance provider for information. A receipt will be provided by Dr. Susan Wnuk upon request.
