Purposeful Yoga Retreat
Ready for an escape from your routine? From the craziness of the world? From the habits that aren’t working for you? From the “busy” that keeps you from connecting—with nature, spirit, others, and most importantly, yourself? Ready to immerse yourself in a week of activities that help you THRIVE?
You’ll begin your morning with the birds from your third story perch. Wake up with yoga, the sunrise, and the sound of the ocean. Whether your idea of a delicious breakfast is a green smoothie, a Mexican specialty like chilaquiles, or eggs and bacon with fresh papaya and pineapple you’ll be fueled for the day.
What that day includes is up to you. Maybe you’re ready for stand up paddle board, kayaking, or hiking to a cave. Or perhaps getting a massage, sitting by the pool sipping a just-cut coconut, or walking the empty beach sounds good.
Stepping out of your environment is one of the best tools for reframing how you’re doing life. It’s like getting a “do over.” Not only do you need time away from your normal routine, you get the most benefit from an approach that extends beyond the week of your retreat.
Your Retreat (no yoga experience required) offers:
Warm ocean breezes…
Time for rest and renewal…
Time for play…
An opportunity to be of service…
A cool group of women…
AND facilitated group time to help grow your self-care practice using tools like Purposeful Yoga and guided meditations for an empowering, vitalizing, and transformative week.
Your retreat includes:
Seven nights of ocean view lodging double occupancy (unless you choose the single option)
Transportation to and from the airport (as long as we can coordinate times among travelers.)
Two Daily yoga classes with meditation.
Daily Free time for relaxation, socializing with the group, or playtime. Or maybe all three.
A sandy quiet beach
A private Facebook group to connect with and stay connected with other retreatants.
And much more!!!
Where does all this awesomeness take place?
Where better to spend a week slowing down, going inward, and playing than a quiet coastal beach town? We’ll be spending the week in the Troncones playa area of Mexico. Part of what makes this place so special is that, while they get tourists, it’s not overly touristy. You won’t find numerous tourist activities, scores of beachfront vendors, and tacky shops. No chain restaurants here.
What you will find is a small town that welcomes visitors along with a slower pace. You’ll also find good restaurants and fun activities.
Walk down the beach and you’ll discover the estuary filled with migratory and local birds. Kayak, try your hand at stand up paddle boarding (a great complement to yoga,) or take a surf lesson. How about a hike to a cave, boogie boarding, or relaxing in the hammock? Or you can horseback ride
kayaking on retreat
down the beach and into the jungle. Or maybe you’d rather head into town for a little shopping.
Your week might include a cooking class from one of the local chefs or watching a turtle release.
Our home base will be a small resort with a handful of bungalows. The resort is situated on a stretch of beach without other hotels or resorts. Very quiet and restful.
Amenities include a pool, restaurant, hammocks, gorgeous grounds, and exceptionally good customer service. You’ll be able to get a massage, pedicure, or manicure all while enjoying the ocean breeze. You’ll also have access to wifi in the common areas. And did I mention that you’re just steps away from the beach where you can walk for miles.
And the yoga…
The yoga will be appropriate to all levels, even those brand new to yoga. You will need to be able to walk up stairs to get to the yoga space. Our twice-daily classes focus on going inward, listening to what you need. Classes will be customized to your needs on a day-by-day basis. Also, no pressure if you want to skip a class.
Another type of yoga
You’ll also have the opportunity to provide service to the local community. In previous years we’ve brought books and school supplies for the local children and schools. We may do some beach clean up during the week too. These activities are also optional.
Life before and after…
Our journey together doesn’t begin or end the day of the retreat. You have a life before and after the retreat, right? Your retreat will include a couple of virtual pre-retreat meetings. You’ll begin to set your intention and to lay the groundwork for getting the most from your retreat with the help of a recorded mediation and our group time. You’ll get your questions answered as well as meet your fellow retreatants. And what about after you get home? We’ll meet again to check-in on your transition to life with all those marvelous people who weren’t part of your retreat. You’ll have a chance to share your successes and challenges as well as ask questions.
What former retreatants had to say:
“Yoga on the beach under the brightest stars I’ve ever seen, greeting the dawn with yoga, meditating, setting intentions for the day, talking with wise, strong, beautiful sisters, impromptu tea parties in the kitchen, tears, llaughter, boogie boarding, hiking, kayaking, hawks soaring over the silent desert, walking down the beach to eat at local enramadas, getting to know the people of Majahua, and even a talent show… Sharon’s design for the retreat was subtly woven… and all the more powerful because of it. We began and ended each day together and had the rest of the day to deepen, grow and open in our own ways, following our own rhythms. The feeling of well-being, love and wholeness that I experienced during this retreat is something I will always carry with me, a reminder of what is and what can be.” Christy Cozby
“I returned from the retreat with the increased awareness of my desire to daily do yoga. Also just a relaxed feeling of being more centered!!
I loved it all! I love new adventures and that was really presented in a safe wonderful setting. Thanks Sharon for providing a special memory that touched on health, friendship, new adventures and beauty all around! It filled me up.” Beverly Cox
“What a perfect week. Wonderful place! Wonderful group of women. I’ve been on many retreats & this one was the best. I returned home blissed. I’m ready to do it again!!! ” Lucy Sage
“This was a healing experience for me. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had a complete hysterectomy on Aug. 11, 2014 and went through six rounds of chemo. By the time Feb. 21, 2014 came around I was ready for a life giving experience. That is exactly what I received. I promise you that you will be welcomed, encouraged, challenged if you choose, rested, and embraced by Sharon’s uniqueness as a Yoga Instructor and Life Coach.” Sarah Whiteman
“I especially loved the morning yoga with the sunrise and the beach yoga under the stars. Fantastic!
Talking with and sharing energy with wonderful “sisters” was an unforgettable experience. This retreat was truly a spiritual journey to me. I felt so peaceful all the time. My outside life itself has not been changed so much, but my inside self-image has been changed a lot. I didn’t know myself can have so much fun with new people and new place, especially that I can be so happy even being away from my family, I can enjoy “my life” not just as a mother or as a wife. Now I’m looking forward my future life as being “myself” again. Thank you Sharon!” Tomoko Izumi
” I have slowed down, I have not stopped smiling and I feel for the first time in a long time that I have released a lot. Thank you.” Mindy Surber

Thank you, Sharon.” “Just did yoga with my sweetie. I couldn’t help wanting to get up and do it. I lost 2 % points of body fat while on the retreat. I love this. Thanks to all of you for being part of this unbelievable week.” Katherine Mercer
