A Magical Mayan Adventure - Yoga & Breathwork Retreat to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

Take a magical adventure to the heart of the Mayan motherland, Lake Atitlan Guatemala, considered one of the most exquisitely beautiful places on Earth.   Your hosts, Sydney Duarte aka The Traveling Gypsy and Jonathan Winn of Breathe Refuge, will guide you on this spectacular 8 day, 7 night retreat full of adventure, exploration, rejuvenation and inspiration.   You will stay at Villa Sumaya, a dream-like escape overlooking the shores of this massive lake with stunning views of surrounding volcanos.

Jonathan & Sydney’s intention is to facilitate a graceful emersion into this mystical world that is considered an energy vortex on the planet.  Many believe that the Mayans disappeared, leaving only their architectural ruins behind.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The Mayans are still living, closely connected to their heritage, in the highlands of Guatemala, around Lake Atitlan.

Highlights of your adventure include exploring local villages and markets, a tour of a local coffee plantation, a hike on San Pedro Volcano, gentle rejuvenating classes daily (yoga, breathwork and/or meditation), and a closing ceremony with a traditional Mayan Shaman.

Also included are:

Arrival and departure transportation to and from airport

Delicious and healthy vegetarian meals served 3x/day at retreat center (meat is available upon request for additional fee)

Unique and beautiful housing options with amenities

Free time to explore the towns around Atitlan, rest in a hammock, meditate by the sanctuary or read by the shore

Healing environment of the Villa Sumaya Resort for rest and rejuvenation

On-going tea & Guatemalan coffee service

    Purified drinking water

    Opening Welcome Circle

Plenty of free time to JUST BE--read, nap, walk the grounds, take a swim or explore the local village

Internet access via an onsite computer (Note that internet service can be intermittent in Guatemala.  A digital detox is recommended)

Love, support, growth, and long lasting memories

Free Retreat Givewaway

We love you. And because we do, we're giving away another free retreat.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My last retreat at SMC was so inspiring and so relaxing. But i'd love to have more time there to spend at the Stupa, visit the Kami shrine, and generally interact with the beautiful enlightened society happening on that entire land. Brett

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
