- Feb 16, 2017 - Feb 27, 2017 (12 days)
You are specially invited to join me and a group of men & women of all ages, for a 10 day journey – a holy Yatra – to sacred cities along India’s most holy river, Mata Ganga.
You will not find this itinerary in Lonely Planet! Over my years of travel I have met special people and have had amazing experiences, now I want to share them with you. Get your visa, make sure your passport is up to date, and meet me at the airport. Let’s have an amazing experience!
As a group, we will be visiting 2 sacred cities: Varanasi and Rishikesh. These cities are on the banks of the Ganges and each has a different flavor and pace.
VARANASI: One of India’s oldest and most colorful places, where life and death dwell on the same razor’s edge. We will spend three days here in a lovely guest house, venturing out for excursions on the river, sight seeing, witnessing sacred Hindu cremation, volunteering in a local school set up for slum children, ceremony with Vedic priests in a special, private location, and traditional Indian yoga.
RISHIKESH: Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rishikesh is a jewel of a place; the peace that emanates from this holy city and her people is palpable. Here we will enjoy a gentler pace and deepen our connections to our spiritual practice and to each other. We will be staying 7 nights at the world renown Parmarth Niketan Ashram directly on the banks of the Ganges.
Each day, we will have the opportunity to practice Yoga & Meditation and sing Kirtan. We will have time both on and in the Ganges – with ceremony and meditation time scheduled. We will visit sacred sites and participate in the nightly Aarti ritual at Parmarth. There will also be plenty of time to relax and integrate our experiences as well as take advantage of the beautiful Ganges river, the lush surrounding hillsides with waterfalls and hiking trails, or stroll the steets of the market place.
