10 Day Ayahuasca Retreat and Machu Picchu (Jan 19-29)
- Shamanic Vida
- Cusco, Peru
- Jan 19, 2017 - Jan 29, 2017 (11 days)
Mother nature has given us in abundance the knowledge of the ancient ancestors from healing plants, to meditation and ancient sites within her splendor. Machu Picchu has been preserved amidst glaciers, encircled in a mountain range, it is to walk the path of the Inca, to experience the natural ingenuity and the magic of the terrain through the gifts of the plant spirits while in Peru. Before seeing the sacred site we begin to prepare our mind, body and spirit through meditation and working with the plant consciousness of mother ayahuasca. We use complementary shamanic meditations from the continent to look inwards and prepare ourselves for the future. Light beginners classes for yoga will help free blockages and move energy through your chakras. There are always compassionate and helpful staff on the grounds to answer any questions you may have and help translate between yourself and the shaman. Our location is remote and free of the sounds, energy waves and lights of the city, you can see the stars shine brightly at night, listen to the animals in the trees and relax absorbing the sun and fresh air during the days.
Day 1: All participants should arrive in Cusco at least a half hour before, to meet at the designated location in the main plaza by 5:00 PM. Please remember it is best if a light lunch is your last meal for the day. Tonight the coordinators will do a brief introduction to the grounds and answer any questions you may have. Each person will be given the amazonian herbs to begin preparing their body to take ayahuasca.
Day 2: This is the first day of the ceremony and in order to prepare the participants, we practice in meditation. There is a guided meditation for anyone needing a refresh on how to meditate. To continue in a meditative state we practice a vow of silence during the retreats. All participants will have a consultation with the shaman and his/her translator before the ceremony. Everyone is called for the ayahuasca ceremony after the sunset.
All of our ceremonies are guided by the shaman or shamans with Icaros and special instruments.
Day 3: We begin the day, after breakfast, with a conversation relaying your experience to the shaman. From this they may analyze and guide you in where to focus your meditation for the next ceremony. There is a yoga class this day followed by a light lunch. In the afternoon there will be time to meditate and absorb the wondrous surroundings and meditate until the ayahuasca ceremony. Before the ceremony begins there will be an Energy Pathways Meditation
We always recommend to bring any type of journal, drawing books or spirituality/meditation oriented books which encourage healing. However, DO SIT IN SILENCE AND MEDITATE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE :)
Day 4: From the retreat centre, we rise early in the morning AM to go to the Inca site of our ancestors, by train 6:40AM - Machu Picchu. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes 8:20AM, your guide will bring you to the bus (20 min) to Machu Picchu. After a guided tour of the ruins, there is time to go to the hot springs for those interested and time to see the pueblo (6 hours). Return by bus at 3:15PM (20 min) to meet the train at 4:12PM. From the train station transport will bring you back to the centre. There will be a light dinner, followed by a small fire ceremony and talk of releasing Ancestral Burdens as related to Machu Picchu and Shamanism.
Day 5: Today is an important time to intently focus on connecting with your spirit and giving gratitude to the earth. We will have a humble peruvian ceremony to give thanks to the earth for the medicine it gives. During yoga we will balance our physical bodies, build strength and flexibility for our lives. We will have light breakfast and lunch this day to nourish ourselves and have energy for the upcoming ayahuasca ceremony.
Day 6: We begin this day with ease, a filling clean breakfast and start the conversation with the shaman. There will be time to ask any questions you may have. Today is a purely plant diet, meditating and finding the connection with plant consciousness. There will be a Cardinal Points Meditation and Movement.
Day 7: Our conversation will be more in depth discussion of ayahuasca, your plant diet and answering any questions you may have. Focus today purely on yourself and having strength to go into one last ayahuasca ceremony. We must heal ourselves before we can heal the world.
Day 8: There will be a conversation with the shaman to start the day. Each participant will have a meditation to focus on for the day. There is not a ceremony today, but a moment for your body to absorb these new energies and rest. It is a large undertaking to reset your system through plant medicines and we focus on making sure this process is gentle for your mind, body and spirit. There will be three meals this day.
Day 9: There will be a conversation with the shaman to start the day. Each participant will have a meditation to focus on for the day. We focus on making sure this process is gentle for your mind, body and spirit. San Pedro Vision Quest ceremony will begin after breakfast.
Day 10: All will enjoy a fresh full breakfast together. We give thanks to everyone and their courage, it will be time to prepare to reintegrate our teachings into our own cities and countries. The journey to the airport in Cusco will have everyone there by 12:00PM or the city center earlier.
