Practices include realized master Paramahansa Yogananda's Energization Exercises, as well as asanas, pranayama, and meditation which magnetically draw energy up the spine allowing for deeper stillness and higher awareness.

Yoga for Higher Awareness empathizes yoga’s original spiritual essence.
Its aim is to raise your level of consciousness by reinforcing the natural effects the yoga postures. It is designed to harmonize your body, mind, and soul.
Yoga for Higher Awareness includes:
Asana (yoga postures)
Pranayama (breathing and energy-control techniques)
Yogic meditation techniques
Applied yoga philosophy
We offer a revitalizing spiritual yoga practice (sadhana), which consists of three parts;
Energization Exercises: Created by Paramahansa Yogananda (who brought Yoga to the West) these exercises are designed to recharge and harmonize the whole body over a 15 minute period. Through the proper use of will, these 39 unique exercises, improve circulation, respiration, digestion, resurrect dying tissue cells, help to form millions of new cells and enhance mental functions. It was developed in order to help the practitioner increase, focus, and control the life-force and is a fun and restorative way to begin each day.
Yoga for Higher Awareness: Step into your inner power with this 45 minute sequence of poses (asanas) that strengthen the body, focus the mind with positive affirmations and release trapped energy. This style of yoga increases the current of energy that flows from the base of the spine through the energy centers (chakras) and into the brain, uplifting our consciousness and increasing our awareness. Each yoga posture is paired with its own affirmation, which one practices silently while in the posture. The affirmation is designed to reinforce the posture’s natural effect on one's state of consciousness, bringing the mind actively and directly into one's practice.
Meditation: Entering into the stillness of meditation for the remaining 15-30 minutes, our teachers offer techniques to deepen your practice and inner peace.
Yoga for Higher Awareness can be gentle or challenging ideal for beginners to advanced yogis. It is an inwardly directed practice that honors the body and gives you a workout without being overly aggressive or aerobic.
The primary emphases are:
Safety and correct alignment
Being relaxed at all times, even in the midst of effort
Working directly with the body’s subtle energy via the yoga postures
Using the postures to raise your consciousness
Adaptation – modifying each yoga posture to fit the needs and abilities of the practitioner rather than trying to force the practitioner into some "ideal" position
Following our morning spiritual practices we enjoy half of breakfast in silence followed by a group affirmation. After breakfast we meet at our lakeside temple for a self-development class, followed by a chakra clearing session or group activity. We meet for lunch then followed by free time to explore, journal or relax in the surrounding serene old-growth forest, lakeside beach, or one of our gardens.
In the afternoon, we deepen our yoga and meditation practice, nourish our bodies with a healthy and delicious Ayurvedic meal and strengthen our group connection with optional fun evening activity like mantra chanting, ecstatic dance, or fire walking.

We offer balanced vegetarian buffet-style meals three times a day. All of our meals are Ayurvedic. Our meals and snacks times are scheduled according to these principles in order to optimize elimination and digestion.

Breakfast is contential and consists of:
Selection of fruit, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, prunes, fresh baked breads, peanut butter, selection of coconut flakes, dates, flaxseed, and much more.
Lunch : French lentils with cilantro, indian rice with cashews, coconut carrot and green beans.
Dinner : Carrot-ginger soup and tofu with collard greens.
Lunch : Sunflower vegetable balls with sweet tomato sauce, sautéed carrots with collard greens, and zucchini ribbons.
Dinner : Red lentil soup, coconut rice with fresh spinach, and herbed peas.
Lunch : Black beans with yam, kale with sunflower seeds and tahini dill dressing.
Dinner : Seitan with tahini dressing, brown rice with gomashio (sesame-salt), and
sautéed vegetables with miso-arrowroot dressing.
Lunch : Garbanzo marinade with tomatoes, colorful rice salad, and tahini eggplant with mushrooms.
Dinner : Split pea soup with ginger, cashew rice with grated beets, and sesame spinach salad.
Lunch : Baked acorn squash, navy beans with curried fennel, broccoli with ginger dressing.
Dinner : Vegetable, rice, and lentil Kitchari.
Lunch : Quinoa with cauliflower, raw kale salad, and green almond pesto.
