Carolyn Yates

Jivamukti Yoga Instructor, Founder of Studio Bija #Yoga, Dancer, Zero Waste Idealist, Mother to Two Aspiring Humans, Super-Wife, Vegetarian, Activist

As an over-trained dancer, Carolyn Yates found her way to yoga in 1998 and instantly fell in love with the balancing and harmonizing effects the practice had on her. After graduating from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington in 2000 with a BFA in Dance, Carolyn began dancing professionally in Denver, Colorado in 2001. Simultaneously she attended her first yoga teacher certification course. Due to a rising need to align her mind, body and spirit in a nurturing way she instinctively made the shift from professional dancer to full time yoga instructor in 2002.

Sometime during her second yoga teacher training course in 2004 she was introduced to the Jivamukti method by Alanna Kaivalya. Carolyn then attended the 300 hour Jivamukti Teacher Training in 2005. Inspired by Alanna Kaivalya, Sharon Gannon, David Life and the many brilliant teachers she has met along the way, Carolyn continues to teach in the Jivamukti method.

In an effort to practice a more sustainable lifestyle and find the most nurturing environment in which to raise her children, Carolyn moved to Paonia, Colorado in 2011. With great support from the community she founded and opened Studio Bija where she currently teaches Jivamukti Yoga.

Carolyn is fascinated by the infinite wisdom of the body and playfully explores the endless possibilities of that wisdom. With her combined experience of dance and yoga her classes are rhythmic, fluid, invigorating and inspirational. Her greatest joy is sharing the yoga space with others and to witness them become inspired by their own revelations as they make connections with the Universe within!
