Stephanie McKenzie

Stephanie McKenzie is a world traveler, southern USA born yogini and dancer. She studied and trained for a dancing career both in South Carolina and California, and worked as a professional dancer for more than 20 years. From a young age, yoga and meditation found their way into Stephanie’s life. First the practice of asana was a required conditioning for her dance career, then it became her refuge.Stephanie’s eclectic life has been met with an equally eclectic study of yoga traditions and practices. As her life and body changed, so did her practice.  She has immersed herself in the study and practice of Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin Yang, Therapeutics, Restorative Yoga, Kunga Yoga and other less known yoga traditions focused on alignment. She is also trained to be a Pilates teacher.Stephanie’s intuitive teaching weaves together a dancer serious physical training, philosophy, mythology, yogic-living and inspiration.  She draws from her deep understanding of yogic traditions, therapeutics, biomechanics and sequencing to bring students into an intimate, honest conversation with their selves.  She honors each students practice and will respectfully guide you to reach beyond the pre-conceived ideas of your own potential and your perceived limitations.In addition, Stephanie is a world traveler. She has hiked the Darien Gap, been chased down a mountain by proboscis monkeys, slept in the home of cannibals, she earned her living by performing as a gingerbread cookie, she bottled raised Siberian tigers and shared an orange with a maquac.Stephanie also has shared her Yoga around the world.  She has taught at festivals, in studios, event centers, schools, prisons, hospitals and anywhere else she felt inspired to call together community to put down their mats, shed their worries and take in the majesty of the planet.  She currently leads retreats and teacher trainings at Samasati Nature and Yoga Retreat on the Southern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica.Stephanie will help you to hear your hearts desire and to connect own and enjoy your life’s path.
