Rev. Melanie Jabul Yetter

I am Melanie Yetter, Reverend Jabul Charama (Buddha’s Love), founder and Abbess of Open Door in Southern California. I am an ordained Zen Buddhist Monk, with The Five Mountain Zen Order. In my ongoing journey I am honored to receive guidance from my Great Teacher, Venerable Charama Bhavika and I am currently enrolled in Buddha Dharma University working towards my Bachelor's degree in Buddhist Studies and Ministry. As a Zen Monk, it is my pleasure to provide Spiritual counseling in both group settings and one-on-one meetings. Each week my Great Students and I share Dharma lessons, meditation, pranayama (breath work), and Sanskrit chanting classes. We increase our personal and spiritual growth through workshops, retreats, and group outings.

My meditation practice is energized and enhanced by my yoga practice. I am a 200 E-RYT/ 500 RYT (registered senior yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance) and have accrued more than four years and 2000 hours of teaching. I was trained and certified as a Yoga Therapy Instructor by Pranava Yogadhama’s master teacher and founder, Jayakumar Swamysree, in Mysore, India. My focus and specialty training includes, Meditation, Pranayama, Sanskrit Chanting, Asana, and a traditional South Indian practice. I currently instruct Yoga Alliance teacher trainees at Open Door’s Yoga Therapy and Meditation School, in meditation, pranayama, yoga philosophy, asana practice, and sanskrit chanting. I share my training with the community at large by offering workshops and retreats, as well as by teaching weekly classes and mentoring.

I find joy and balance in my life with my family. Born and raised in Indiana, I moved to California at the age of nineteen to better my future. Here I met and married my husband, Joe. Our blended family is blessed with three daughters and a new baby boy.

Free Retreat Givewaway

We love you. And because we do, we're giving away another free retreat.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My inspiration is a desire to gain a deeper connection to and understanding of myself, something that I've been working hard on for so long and will continue to do in the future. I view a retreat as a wonderful way to focus entirely on this without the distractions of every day life! Nicola

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
