Internationally trained Yoga Teacher, Maritz Steyn, has a deep understanding of yoga’s diverse history and philosophy with respect and compassion for traditional yoga teachings, while also remembering his own personal Western roots.
Maritz has a yoga practice that is a culmination of years of exploration and passion for personal development through body, mind and spirit. Maritz teaches yoga with his lifetime of experience and unique style challenging the body with calm and deep concentration; he has a strong belief in the body and its divine structure, and emphasises the importance of technique and alignment in order to practice safe yoga.
Maritz has qualified as a 500 HR RYT and has continuously studied with numerous teachers in order to continue his own growth. He has taught at various yoga studios over the last 12 years and has been an integral part of many teacher Training programs since 2006.
Anatomy as a western science and embodied experience has been one of his passions. He has studied as a dancer, massage therapist and yogi with a host of teachers. Embodied anatomy is one of his passions and deeply intertwines with his teaching.
Maritz’s classes focus on Vinyasa style – connecting fluidity, breath and dynamic yoga postures to strengthen and optimize movement ability and mindful awareness.
