Michael began his exploration of Yoga in 1997 with a book from the school library. What started off as an exercise routine eventually developed into an esoteric fascination with the discovery of the writings of Swami Sivananda on Kundalini. Once the fire had been kindled, it led him to an almost obsessive study of any authentic Yogic literature he could get his hands on and any free time became dedicated to the practice of Yoga. His aspiration was further ignited after reading Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahamsa Yogananda and in 2001, at the end his university studies, he ventured to India in search of a teacher who could instruct him on the mysteries of Yoga. It was in Rishikesh that Michael found what he was searching for in the teachings and inspiration of Swami Vivekananda Saraswati. In 2004, he joined Swami at Agama Yoga Thailand and has been studying with Agama ever since.
In the early days of the school there were times when there weren't enough teachers to teach all the classes offered. Knowing that he was a dedicated practitioner, the teaching staff asked him to join the team. Since then, Michael has found it to be a blessing to help inspire those he shares the teachings with in the same way that he was first inspired.
Michael has been a part of the Agama teaching team since 2006 and teaches mainly the Kundalini levels of the Agama curriculum. He has also developed and runs The Serpent Power Intensive, a 7-day experience of strong practice and inspiration. In this retreat, he endeavors to share his practical knowledge acquired through long hours of daily practice of delving into the mysteries of Kundalini.
