Don Eleuterios Navarro Java, or Eloy or ‘Luco’ as he is known, is a Peruvian Amazonian nativo, born in Jenaro Herrera in 1968. He is an ayahuascero or and vegetalista or ayahuascero palero (palo meaning wood) meaning he works mainly with ayahuasca and also has knowledge of a great variety of other medicinal plants , which he uses in his ayahuasca brew and works with separately to treat different ailments. He first drank ayahuasca when he was 15 with an ayahuascero from Pullcapa who was to become a Master Shaman, Don Julio Llerena, his late brother, and Maestro Don Alberto Torres. Luco worked mainly in the military during his younger years leading American soldiers on jungle treks, until the age of 36 when personal struggles led him to devote himself to shamanic practice under the guidance of Don Julio and Don Alberto. He now has many years experience working in prestigious healing centres in the Iquitos region. As a family man and lover of the simple life Don Luco now wishes to continue shamanic practice in his home community where he established Dr. Sanango with his English apprentice Emily Sinclair in 2015.
