Craig takes you on a fun and challenging journey in this week of charcoal portrait drawing using a live model. His experience and guidance gives you the knowledge and tools required to create very accurate portraits. Drawing is all about observation. Simply, it’s about seeing shapes, and light, and shadow, and then accurately representing them on paper. It’s about understanding what you see and making marks on your paper to create a likeness. However, if you don’t know what to look for, or where to look for it, then an accurate drawing becomes very difficult, and this is not necessary! Craig quickly helps you to understand common facial proportions, (the “canons of the head”) and gives you simple strategies to ensure accuracy in your creative piece. It doesn’t require extraordinary talent to create amazing, lifelike portraits. It only requires knowledge, and of course practice. Craig will be sharing with you the techniques of using the “sight sizing” method. This is a unique, almost foolproof tool for achieving accuracy and believability in your drawings. Have you ever worked on a portrait only to step back and see that the drawing you’re creating just doesn’t quite look like the person you’re drawing?…
