Tom grew up with an appreciation for outdoor adventures, learning new cultures, and helping others. From 2002 to 2004, he applied this passion as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic, where he implemented agriculture and community development programs in a small village along the Dominican-Haitian border.
Tom has a degree in Spanish with a specialty in Economics from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University. He has over ten years of professional experience in public policy and finance and currently applies his expertise in Oregon state government as a policy and budget specialist for health care programs.
He currently lives in beautiful Salem, Oregon and loves being a part of the growing community. He enjoys spending time as a mentor, volunteering at community events, and exploring the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest. Being a part of Abundance Retreats and its mission is a dream come true for Tom. He is enthused to serve as transportation operator and helping guests assimilate to the Dominican culture and language, including how to navigate piropos, typical hand and facial gestures, and the Dominican slang guests will likely encounter. ¡Pa’lante Amigos!
