Sharpham Trust

About us

Retreat centre based on the Buddhist tradition in the beautiful Devon countryside of South West England.

Who are Barn retreats suitable for?

All retreats at the Barn are suitable for beginners as well as experienced meditators - in fact anyone who is willing and able to:

Fully commit to doing a Buddhist meditation retreat for the period of their stay

At the heart of the Sharpham Trust ethos is our desire to connect people with nature and to promote mindfulness and well-being. Located in a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with superb views over the steeply wooded river Dart, the Sharpham estate makes for a very special location to come on a retreat. Retreatants benefit from the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful, reflective and life-enriching environment of the estate and many people return, having developed a strong emotional connection to the place.

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
