About This Center

Willka T’ika is Peru's premier luxury garden guesthouse and retreat center. We are based in the heart of the Sacred Valley between Cusco and Machu Picchu, one of the most energetically charged places on Earth. Willka T'ika invites spiritual and socially conscious leaders to conduct retreats at our eco-friendly guesthouse and to enjoy fully-inclusive tours. Connect to Pachamama (Mother Earth) through the renowned Chakra Gardens, Q’ero ceremonies, Andean excursions, and organic vegetarian cuisine.

Owner Carol Cumes built Willka T’ika in 1994 as a private garden retreat center with a specific focus on yoga, making it the first yoga retreat center in the Sacred Valley. To preserve its sacredness, it is open only to registered guests. We have 2 fully equipped sun-lit yoga studios with wooden floors, which can accommodate conferences, lectures, and other events. Willka T'ika also contains ceremonial temples, a library, and the renowned beautiful and restorative Seven Chakra Gardens. Healing services include: Andean massages, reflexology, solar-heated floral medicinal baths under the stars, and crystal light therapy sessions.

Additional nourishment comes from our delicious gourmet vegetarian food. The meals incorporate local high-protein ingredients such as the Andean Tarwi, Kiwicha and Quinoa. All dishes are prepared with organic freshly-harvested produce, herbs, and grains grown in the Willka T’ika gardens. The Magical Journey retreats include a nutritional breakfast buffet and a full-course dinner. We are pleased to offer special diet needs, such as gluten-free and dairy-free entrees. Local herbal teas are available daily. The Quechua staff is versed in Incan herbal remedies and happily prepare special healing teas for guests.

The adobe-style buildings are made from all natural materials from the area. We have 10 charming and comfortable garden rooms, 12 luxury garden rooms and 4 deluxe suites with king beds, all with gorgeous Andean details and artwork.
Every room has heating and modern private bathrooms with hot water. Our solar heating, storage of water allotment, and septic systems help minimize our impact on the environment. Willka T’ika’s total accommodation capacity is presently 70 guests. Willka T’ika surpasses the International Criteria for classification as an Ecolodge – it is a model of authentic sustainability.

An especially unique and favored part of guests’ experience at Willka T’ika is the loving service from the Peruvian staff. By staying at Willka T’ika you will be treated to excellent professional service from our 17 full-time staff members, a Quechua family who has been working at Willka T’ika since the inception. The staff is family to Carol, and they are empowered in their roles by sharing their culture of Pachamama, hospitality, reciprocity, and healing.

Willka T’ika hosts 8-day and 10-day Magical Journey retreats that feature tours of Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley archeological sites, authentic Andean spiritual ceremonies and individual sessions with Andean healers, and a joyful visit to a mountain school community sponsored by the Willka T’ika Children’s Fund. The tour packages are coordinated thoughtfully to provide a healthy balance between exploring Peru’s Sacred Valley, meditation and reflection, and learning about Peru’s spiritual culture. In addition to the Magical Journey retreats, founder Carol Cumes leads an annual program called “Magical Journey to Machu Picchu.” For further information you may inquire via email at (contact info blocked). •   Magical Journey

Willka T’ika is the perfect setting for discovering the breathtaking beauty, powerful history and remarkable culture of the Andes. The accommodation and gardens Carol and her delightful Andean staff have created are beyond description- out first attempts were “paradise” and “garden of Eden”. The attention to our comfort –from incredible, locally grown vegetarian cuisine to hot water bottles warming our sheets every night – is unparalleled in my experience. In this exquisite setting, side trips to Andean Archeological sites with an enthusiast and bright guide who shared her passion for the Andean culture, our experience became richly textured like the beautiful Andean weavings. I was incredibly touched by the authenticity of Qero pakko Don Benito and his family members who led us in the Andean offering and Fire ceremony. Without questions this has been the most enjoyable, most meaningful travel experience of my life! Namaste. Kay Kamas and Jim Porter

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

This sounds like a dream! I am an education student and I have spent way too much time working all summer to pay for school. My boyfriend of 5 years is a government firefighter and has been away working most of the summer. His 30th Birthday and our 6th anniversary is coming up this winter, we would love to celebrate with a yoga retreat! We both love yoga but have barley had time to practice in the past few months. Keeping our fingers crossed! Jaimee and Dan
