Hidden Creek Arts & Ecology Centre

About us

A special place to experience solitude necessary to re-connect with ourselves. A short boat ride across Kootenay Lake, from the City of Nelson, British Columbia, Hidden Creek Art and Ecology centre was built with the objective of sustainability, energy efficiency and local & natural materials in mind. The property includes a yurt for sleeping and/or meditation, a straw bale residence with 4 beds, and a large studio for yoga, meditation and arts practice. A short walk from the lake, the Centre is nestled among cottonwood, cedar trees and ponderosa pines to provide an inspirational, contemplative and intimate settting. Away from the distractions of daily life, staying here allows one the time to renew and focus on their practice and experience a sense of tranquility. People looking to escape must consider whether or not this is the right environment for them. Transport to and from the retreat is by motor boat. Supplies are delivered on a weekly or as needed basis. It is ideal for private or group retreats.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My last retreat at SMC was so inspiring and so relaxing. But i'd love to have more time there to spend at the Stupa, visit the Kami shrine, and generally interact with the beautiful enlightened society happening on that entire land. Brett

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
