Celestial Sanctum Retreat Center of Hawaii

About us

Celestial Sanctum Retreat Center Hawaii Mission Statement

Our purpose is three-fold:

1. To create a self-sufficient community where people can learn how to exist with nature and take that knowledge back to their own communities and apply this philosophy.

2. Secondly, to provide custom designed retreats that expand experiences of spiritual, mental and physical wellness.

3. Finally, to be a destination facility for groups who want to put on their own similar events.

We practice Mindful Living by enhancing the way we breathe, eat, move, think, and relax.

The Celestial Sanctum’s first retreat center was created in the 1980’s on a 20 acre California State Certified Organic Farm. The present Retreat Center is the vision of Rick and Katy Joy who have held this joint vision since the 2006 Quest for Global Healing Conference in Bali.

For the last eleven (11) years the Founders visited over 20 countries worldwide looking for the perfect location to establish the Center. We finally chose the Big Island of Hawaii because it had virtually everything we wanted. Our location is in a country setting with lots of open space on a beautiful 25 acre property. We are close to an International Airport and spectacular attractions, yet away from town.

Since the center is situated at an elevation of 1400 feet there is minimal humidity and not many insects. The Center boasts beautiful views of the surrounding countryside therefore providing a peaceful environment. The Center is “off the grid” which means we generate our own solar power and water heating in addition to having our own water supply. Our organic gardens and greenhouse produce much of the produce incorporated into our meals keeping us in touch with Mother Nature.

The initial facility has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms along with a grand Main Room for gatherings, lectures, workshops and more.

Since we plan to expand the retreat to 11 bedrooms and additional 5 cottages, the property will facilitate the hosting of larger gatherings, events and training. In addition to the beautiful surroundings, some of the amenities include a Center Court swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, workout equipment, massage chair, along with nature trails and meditation spots located on different sections of the facility resulting in a mindful, tranquil setting. Furthermore, there is a Master Chef who prepares delicious, nutritious organic meals along with gourmet teas, coffees, smoothies, juices and detox drinks. And let’s especially not forget our Incredible Desserts!

Free Retreat Givewaway

We love you. And because we do, we're giving away another free retreat.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

This sounds like a dream! I am an education student and I have spent way too much time working all summer to pay for school. My boyfriend of 5 years is a government firefighter and has been away working most of the summer. His 30th Birthday and our 6th anniversary is coming up this winter, we would love to celebrate with a yoga retreat! We both love yoga but have barley had time to practice in the past few months. Keeping our fingers crossed! Jaimee and Dan

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
