Diamond Mountain Retreat Center

About us

Diamond Mountain is a Buddhist Retreat Center nestled in the foothills of the Chiricahua Mountains of South-Eastern Arizona. We are open to individual retreaters as well as group retreats of up to 150 people for a weekend, a week or more.  Working with our sister organization Asian Classics Institute (ACI), we offer 6 large group retreats yearly.  We also offer regular weekend ACI courses, volunteer opportunities and smaller group retreats throughout the year.  Visit our Upcoming Events page for more information: www.diamondmountain.org/upcoming-events-at-dmrc

Our Retreat Valley, home to our 27 retreat cottages, has an average elevation of around 5,000 feet. We are blessed with a diversity of desert plants and wildlife due to our geographical location between the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts to the east and west and the Rocky and Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges to the north and south. As a result, all cottage offer unparalleled desert views and our night skies are full of more stars than you’ve ever seen.

Based on the teachings of karma, emptiness and bodhicitta, Diamond Mountain has naturally embraced the principles of Permaculture – take care of earth, take care of the people, and share the surplus- since our beginnings in 2003. As a result, most of our retreat cottages are off-the-grid and boast solar electricity, solar hot water and composting toilets.

Our Main Temple is made of adobe and the interior is finished with American Clay plaster. Adobe keeps the interior of our Temple cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The American Clay finish is pleasing to the eyes and heart and infuses the air with negative ions which help to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.

We love you. And because we do, we're giving away another free retreat.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

So that I am rejuvenated to be the best I can be in my relationships - personal, work and in Society - offering and giving to be of benefit to others! Laura
