Fox Haven is an organic farm, ecological retreat center, wildlife sanctuary, and learning center. We are located in the rolling hills of Maryland, an hour outside of Washington D.C.. We are about 15 minutes west of Frederick and 20 minutes from Harper's Ferry, WV. We have trails on the farm and a lovely gravel country road that parallels the Catoctin Creek to walk/bike on. We are very close to the Appalachian Trail and the Potomac River.
We teach classes on a variety of subjects: Mindful Meditation, Trauma Informed Mindful Meditation & Movement, Nature Meditation, Various types of Yoga, Mindful Eating - the Second Brain, Permaculture, Herbs (medicinal and culinary), Tree Grafting/Orchard maintenance, Composting, Wild Food Foraging, Fermentation, Mushrooms 101, to name a few. People can bring their own speakers/teachers and/or we can teach a class to enhance your stay. You are welcome to help us with farm chores if it works into the farm schedule and you would find it fulfilling. We do give farm tours.
Our 3 farm houses have a combined 13 bedrooms that can sleep between 31-38 people in beds and 2-4 more on sleeper sofas. We have ample room for tents. We have an outdoor 4 person sauna and a ping pong table, lots of space to run and play games, and each house has a collection of books and games and all linens/towels provided. Each kitchen is fully equipped. We will help with food purchasing and prep, line up caterers if needed for an additional fee. You are also welcome to cook for yourselves, bring your own caterer, or work with us to provide your retreat attenders with a mix of gastronomical delights.
We have a Dairy Parlor meeting space with a warm wooden floor and lots of natural light that seats 85 in rows. There is space for 25-30 yoga mats to fit comfortably. We also have a beautiful space in the Big Red Barn for yoga, meditation, tai chi, dancing and more! All spaces have free wi-fi, and we have a projectors and screens for use in the houses, Dairy Parlor and Barn.
