Sky Meadow Retreat Center

About us

Sky Meadow Retreat Center began 30 years ago as an organic farm and homestead. It sits on an original homesteading property of 120 acres in Stannard, part of the North East Kingdom of Vermont. Because of this, Sky Meadow is littered with apple, plum and pear trees, berry bushes of all sorts, and large swatches of land are cultivated yearly as organic gardens. In 1998 it became a retreat center also, providing space and (optional) organic, fresh grown produce for retreats of all types.

The spaces are open for leaders looking to host their own retreats, solo retreat seekers, couples retreats, and Sky Meadow also hosts multiple in house retreats each year focused on meditation and communication.

The main group retreat facility is a lovely renovated old post and beam barn that can comfortably accommodate 16 people, and has large open spaces with beautiful hard wood floors and giant windows.

Sky Meadow remains a working organic farm and homestead as well, complete with a flock of sheep, a herd of alpaca, and chickens. Group retreats have the option of meals being prepared in house, and in such retreats we harvest produce and serve and prepare fresh food from our gardens. Sky Meadow is an ideal location for retreat leaders and retreat attendees interested in wellness, yoga, meditation, connection, resetting and so many other things!

Sky Meadow Retreat Center is home to an intentional community that serves retreat goers and maintain the grounds, and since its onset as a retreat center, Sky Meadow has played host to retreats of all types: from meditation to yoga, knitting, dance groups, qigong, tai chi, basket weaving and more—and we are always looking to expand! Reach out to us if you have a retreat that you think could be a good fit! We would love to hear about it.

From the fabulous meals, to the majestic land which you live on, it was all simply divine. Everyone made the stay so very, very special.

Venue Highlights

Our center is removed from traffic (you most likely won’t hear vehicular noises during your stay), located at the end of a dirt road in the Vermont country side. It is complete with multiple swimming ponds, marked hiking trails that traverse 120 acres of forest, a hilltop overlooking the Green Mountains, wood fired hot tubs, a wood fired sauna, a sweat lodge, outdoor kitchens, and more. Our lodging facilities include a renovated barn, as well as multiple small wooden cabins , a cob house, a yurt, a cave and an old sugaring house (however some of these are not available depending on the time of year of retreat). We also have a meditation gazebo that sits on our hill top next to our small Aspen grove, as well as a dance pavilion with a dirt floor, fire pit, and sound system. There are also outdoor fire pits for guest use throughout the center.

Sky Meadow offers retreats the option of having their meals prepared here by our apprentices and a skilled local chef, or for retreat goers to bring their own food and prepare it for themselves in our kitchen facilities. If you have your meals prepared in house you can expect your meals to be filled with our fresh, organic produce, harvested merely hours (sometimes minutes) before being served to you. We source as much of your food as we can from our land, and the rest as locally as possible from neighboring farms. We can accommodate any dietary restrictions, and ask that retreat leaders let us know of such. Sky Meadow is a vegetarian retreat center, and we ask that guests who come to cook do not cook meat in our facilities.
We serve cold breakfast, lunch and dinner, or brunch and dinner depending on the request of the retreat.

As listed in venue highlights there are many different accommodations at Sky Meadow, although some of them are seasonal as they are without heat and electricity.
The rooms within the main facility are shared bedrooms. The three bedrooms on the upper floor of the barn each have four beds, and share two bathrooms, each with a single shower. These rooms are set up as having bunk beds, however access is easier to the top bunk as it is more closely stairs than a ladder for climbing. There are two additional rooms within the lower area of the barn, and each of those has two beds. The lower two rooms share one bathroom with a single shower.
There are additional spaces available for guests depending on the retreat and the time of year. Please inquire about those spaces upon first contact with Sky Meadow. They include: The Mouse House, The Robins Nest, The Cob House, The Maple Sugaring House, The Orchard House, The Yurt, and The Cave.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

To bring my friend and open her world to the gift of yoga. Denise
