Ayahuasca Retreat Center outside Iquitos, Peru.
We have created a botanical garden at the center. Here we grow most of the plants that we use during the treatments. This way we are sure that the plants are pure and have preserved their energy. The garden also gives you the opportunity to meet your plant and create a relationship with it during your stay. Those who are interested in botanic or ethnobotanic can also study the main plants used in the shipibo tradition in their natural environment.

"I can really recommend Luz Cosmica outside Iquitos, Peru: In May this year (2014), we arrived at Luz Cosmica Spiritual Centre, some 8 km from the jungle town Iquitos (Peru). The centre is deep in the jungle and is very quiet and isolated. It’s perfect for taking ayahuasca and for doing dietas under the apprenticeship of the Master Shaman James Arevalos Rojas. Don James, is a shipibo-conibo shaman and comes from a long lineages of Plant Spirit shamans. He is the oldest son of the famous “Other World documentary” Master Shaman, Guillermo Arévalo aka Kestenbetsa. What’s great in my opinion is that Luz Cosmica is own and run by Don James and not by some gringo. The prices are very low compared to other centres: for $90 / day, you get 4-5 ceremonies per week, all food and lodging, plus your clothes washed, pick up at the airport and return to the airport, your medicine and flower baths too. There are bungalows, proper toilets and showers and it’s all basic but totally sufficient. I went for the excellent ceremonies and medicina that Don James and Master Shaman Don Elias provide, so comfort was secondary. The Maloka has beautiful and peaceful energy. At our arrival we had a chat with Don James and he determined what plants we had to take as part of our healing. We also got flower baths as part of our treatments. The staff attended to our every need and was always smiling and friendly, specially Jose was lovely. The food is specially made to follow an ayahuasca -diet, meaning there’s no salt, spices, oil, sugar etc. It can be hard at first with no taste enhancers but you’ll get used to it quickly. There are always fruit, crackers and tea available at all times. We had really amazing healing and enjoyed very well-run cerimomies. The shamans were there for our every need, very focused on the healing and singing amazing icaros. I would really recommend Luz Cosmica and don James and his staff. Personally I have never had such amazing visions and deep healing. I feel so grateful for Don James and I wish him the best for his centre. If you want the real deal, genuine deep healing, the care and interest that a shaman should provide, you’ll find it all in Don James. He is one of the warmest and most caring shamans I have ever come across plus you’ll always have a laugh with him. Happy healing and deep transformation!"
