About This Center

Job responsibilities; family obligations, however joyous; the unexpected change of roles as we care for our parents; the surprising adjustments of retirement. Finally, we reach the end of our rope physically, mentally or emotionally.

That's when yoga can help the most.

At Halfmoon Yoga, we believe in bringing yoga to you, where you are today. With a welcoming community; with a sense of fun; with honest expectations; without competition; without tying yourself in knots; without trying to be perfect. Join us for authentic Indian, breath-centered yoga in the tradition of Desikachar and Krishnamacharya. Calming, centering yoga in a serene, spa-like atmosphere.

Because ability to pay should never prevent anyone from benefiting from yoga, Halfmoon Yoga holds free community classes and donation-only classes. We also support the not-for-profit outreach, "The Heifer Project", which provides the tools impoverished families and communities worldwide need to generate economic stability and improve their lives.

A yoga practitioner for 44 years, Catherine Deans E-RYT 500 has over 850 hours of formal yoga teacher training and more than 5000 hours of hands-on teaching experience. Over the past 5 years, Catherine has broadened her knowledge of therapeutic yoga with in-depth training at Duke Integrative Medicine, Duke University Medical Center and advanced yoga and therapeutic yoga instruction at the Healing Yoga Center, San Francisco – the US flagship affiliate of the Krishnamacharya Yoga Healing Foundation.

Amanda Cannon RYT200 has been actively practicing yoga since 2004. She began yoga in midlife as a way to heal injuries sustained in other fitness activities. Amanda quickly learned the restorative power of stretching, practicing mindfulness and conscious breath control. She is registered with Yoga Alliance and is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Amanda teaches yoga to women inmates and is continuing her advanced yoga teacher training.
