Sewall House Yoga Retreat is a unique blend of history and healing. Owner Donna Amrita Davidge purchased her great grandparents National Registry Historic Home in 1997 to continue its legacy of healing. A young Theodore Roosevelt was healed here from asthma in the fresh air amidst the wildlife of northern Maine in its pristine beauty.
The immediate area offers lakes, hikes, including the majestic Mount Katahdin, which TR climbed with Donna's renowned nature guide great grandfather William Sewall. TR returned two more times, creating a lifelong friendship with guide Sewall.
The retreat offers the same- beautiful nature outings, new friends as well as twice daily yoga, meditation, acclaimed vegetarian cuisine ( 3 meals per day) and private rooms with a bed and breakfast charm. Massage and sauna are available.
A local Amish community adds to the flavor of a history of a simpler time. With renewed touches, the house remains inviting as it did in days of old.
Owner Donna Davidge has been teaching since the mid 1980's in New York City, maintaining her full time teaching practice there in the winter months. Your retreats are personalized to your yoga needs, but also to issues you are dealing with that a retreat can offer insight on.
