Salt Spring Centre of Yoga

About This Center

The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga is a non-profit yoga community devoted to the attainment of peace. We offer programs including yoga retreats, yoga teacher training, yoga getaways, various workshops and many other special programs. The Centre is the longest running yoga retreat centre on Canada’s West Coast.

The Centre was built by Karma Yogis and continues to be run by staff and volunteers in the spirit of karma yoga (selfless service). The cozy turn-of-the-century farmhouse and surrounding buildings sit amid 65 acres of meadows, forest and organic farmland on beautiful Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. The property boasts a large organic farm that supplies most of the produce for the deliciously prepared vegetarian meals.

“Work honestly, meditate every day, meet people without fear, and play.” ― Baba Hari Dass

Venue Highlights

Salt Spring Island is a beautiful Island off the coast of Vancouver Island. We are located by ferry and air from both Victoria and Vancouver. Year round the island has a vibrant local community featuring many artists and artisan food producers. In the summer we feature a twice weekly farmer and artisan market, known widely around the area. Set back from the main bustle of Salt Spring, our yoga center is a truly tranquil place to spend time going inward amidst forest, meadows and farmland. We have three year round asana/ practice spaces and a fourth seasonal space open during the warm months.

Our cozy turn-of-the-century farm house is home to most of our guest accomodation. We have private and shared rooms (up to 3 people per shared room) and both ensuite and shared bathroom options. We have a small number of rooms in our Garden House, overlooking the vegetable fields and adjacent to one of our indoor asana spaces. In the summer we have campsite accomodation available featuring beautiful wooden out-door forest showers. We provide all linens and towels as well as all yoga mats and props.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Because I sometimes work up to 16 hours a day, and need time to stop and breathe. Mary
