Convento Arcádia

About us

Based on a lasting love for the marvelous village of Atins, its nature and people, the Convento first came to the fore in 2016 as a holiday house. We now extended our services and continue to transform the large terrain into a beautiful garden in which our guests will find a tranquil, relaxing and personal experience of a home away from home. We think long term, our emphasis is on attending families and Kite or Yoga groups and creating long lasting relationships with our clients to welcome them back many times in the future.
In doing so we concern ourselves with reducing our impact on nature and the ecosystem of the Lençóis Maranhenses to the best of our abilities as well as promoting and supporting the overall sustainable development of the local community and economy.

Venue Highlights

You’ll be staying at the Convento Arcádia, a peaceful boutique bed & breakfast in the tranquil village of Atins on the edge of the mesmerising Lençóis Maranhenses - only 100m from the beach.

Set in half a hectare full of coconut palms, a grove of cashew trees and tastefully decorated the Convento Arcádia invites you to relax and kick back. In less than 100m you will find yourselves at the beach or in the nearest restaurant. For Kiters the Convento offers purpose-built facilities. Your Yoga practice will set place on an open air wooden deck nestled into a grove of Cashew trees. Our equipment (mats, blocks and belts) is at your full disposal.

Menu/Cuisine

The signature dish of Atins is a variation of prawns and fish. Vegetarian food being generally hard to come by in Brazil we partnered with Sandra Ruas for our retreats who is preparing a small selection of three daily changing, healthy dishes with fresh ingredients from our very own organic garden - always with one vegetarian option. Sandra will be experimenting with a range of Ayurvedic recipes for us!

Accommodations

We carefully developed the architecture of the Convento Arcádia in harmony with its surroundings to provide for a unique and cosy atmosphere. Its outdoors kitchen is designed for dinner parties to the sound of the sea and the wind, large verandas provide ample shaded space to relax and kick back with a good read in one of the many hammocks.

The main house offers three rooms, two doubles and one large suite with a double and two single beds. In addition, we offer four chalets each with its large private veranda. The chalets come with a large double and two to four additional single beds.

All rooms come with ensuite baths and are tastefully arranged and decorated. Breakfast will be served on the veranda of the main house and rooms are cleaned on a daily basis.

We wish you will enjoy the tranquility and peace of a unique home away from home!

Directions

The nearest major domestic airport to Atins and the Lençóis Maranhenses is São Luís (SLZ). The closest international airports are in Fortaleza (FRO), Belem (BEL) or Natal (NAT), from where you can fly on to São Luís. Many domestic or international flights might also be routed via the capital Brasília (BSB), or the two metropolis of São Paulo (GRU) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG), which also have direct flights to SLZ.

SLZ is serviced by the following airlines: Azul, GOL, LATAM

For your convenience we organise the entire transfer from São Luís to Atins for you. You will have to arrive in São Luís on the first day, see to catch a flight that will get you there between midday and 16:00. There, you will acclimatise one night and explore the Historic Centre of São Luís (Unesco World Heritage Listed). You will stay in a historic old townhouse with pool right in the centre of the Old Town. A Minivan will pick you up early the following morning.

For guests arriving from outside Brazil we’d recommend to combine this retreat with another one to two weeks of exploring this marvellous country. We’ll happily give some pointers, however notwithstanding personal preferences stopovers in Rio de Janeiro and Bahia would seem a good fit.

Your return flight from SLZ should not depart before 12AM on day 6!

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

To drop deep into the practices and connect with my true nature... Alison
