About This Center

Nestled in the heart of the ancient Charnwood national forest, Nanpantan Hall is the perfect venue to host retreats and other quiet events.

The house is private and peaceful with picturesque views, set in over 16 acres of charming Leicestershire countryside in the heart of the National Forest.

A fine house from the Victorian era with six meeting rooms on the ground floor, a superb modern kitchen and 16 bedrooms. A garden terrace along the back of the house overlooks a split-level rolling lawn large enough for a 3 giant hat Tipis. The Coach House has two meeting rooms on the ground floor and 11 bedrooms.

Some of the comments from people who attended the 2017 Nanpantan Retreat: “It exceeded my expectations, Suryacitta always keeps the content simple and understandable” “I’ve gone from asking what’s that about? to asking what’s going on? A big shift!!!” “In short my time here has left me feeling ready to commit to my practice and hopefully edge closer to the razor’s edge in my everyday life dealings, I’m so grateful.” “What a lovely enriching week. I’ve learnt such a lot, about mindfulness meditation, but also some satisfying insights for myself.” “This is been a very rich experience for me. I have realised the opportunity to step off the hamster wheel of everyday life and slow down, pause, savour the beautiful grounds and meet new people and experience new teaching and meditation styles.” “This is a beautiful place, an easy place to be even when things are not. The most important thing for me is to feel safe and safe was how I felt here.” “I appreciate that this will be a long journey and I will come across some very difficult emotions that have been very well buried. But for once I actually feel like it is something I can do and will do. I look forward to going home and enjoying my children (in the moment) and hopefully giving them the life I never had.” “If you want to experience and appreciate what is, I highly recommend this retreat.”

Venue Highlights

Nanpantan village is two and a half miles west of Loughborough. At the beginning of the 20th century the village consisted of the Hall, a mission church, a day school and about 20 cottages. The derivation of the name seems to be ‘Pantain’ from the Anglo-Saxon word meaning enclosure. Part of the map of Charnwood Forest dated 1754 shows the position of ‘Nan’s Pantain’.

Nanpantan Hall is an exclusive hire venue, with 18 bedrooms in the Hall and a further 11 in the Coach House there is plenty of space for even the largest of families or school group.

The Accommodation at Nanpantan Hall is set over 3 floors, with a variety of bedrooms sizes available, from single bedrooms to large family rooms. There are 2 ground floor bedrooms along with a ground floor disabled bathroom. The first floor bedrooms are elegant with high ceilings and large windows. The Attic rooms are pretty rooms set amidst the eves, with stunning views from every window.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

After participating in more yoga classes and events this year than in my entire life, I am yearning for the opportunity to attend a professional retreat. The opportunity to grow my practice, learn from talented students and teachers, and immerse myself in this gorgeous Red Feather Lakes sanctuary is the dream of a lifetime! Sara
