Lauvitel Lodge

About us

Lauvitel Lodge is a mountain getaway in the heart of the French Alps – the Oisans valley, famous for its Nature’s naked beauty. The pristine and dramatic mountain landscape around the Lodge provides an ideal environment for self- exploration, unwinding and re-connecting with those parts of ourselves that we might have long forgotten.

For many years now, we have been running and hosting numerous well-being, self-development and corporate retreats and workshops. Our ultimate goal is to continuously create space that can be a “home away from home” for all our guests and retreat participants.

Lauvitel Retreats

Every year, we organise our four flagship Lauvitel Retreats. Each of them looks at personal and spiritual growth from a slightly different angle and has its particular flavour. It is closely related to the fact that every Lauvitel Retreat happens in a different season of the year.

Couple’s Getaway Retreat (winter) is dedicated to personal relationships, especially the most intimate ones. Each year, we re-discover how to laugh and love better, step away from our daily routine and appreciate the little things in our lives.

Reiki Well-Being Retreat (spring) is all about revitalizing our body-mind-spirit connection after the winter. We work with Reiki and Tai-Chi to deepen the relationship with ourselves, as well as to learn how to heal the wounded aspects of our experience.

Mountain Adventure Retreat (summer) takes advantage of the full-on summer in the French Alps. The 7 days of the retreat are dedicated to exploring the alpine surroundings by engaging in activities such as whitewater rafting or climbing. At the same time, professional coaching guidance is provided to translate those physical experiences into meaningful personal development lessons.

“Stillness in Action” Tai-Chi Retreat (autumn) embraces gratitude and appreciation as its main themes. During autumn, we become willing students of the art of being still and observing. Tai-Chi is the primary tool to facilitate the learning.

All the Lauvitel Retreats are structured and facilitated by Dr Caroline Purkhardt – the owner of Lauvitel Lodge, as well as an accredited life coach, Tai-Chi teacher and Reiki master.

Hosting Retreats

We are open to hosting retreats brought to us by professionals from all over the world. If you are looking for a Nature-based and cosy venue for your next event – get in touch!

The retreats we like to host are usually connected to meditation, self-improvement, well-being, yoga, authentic relationships, alternative learning, healing and immersive experiences. But we don’t want to limit ourselves with labels! We are always curious to hear about new ideas.

Community & Mission

Our mission as a venue is to enable guests to experience the tranquillity of Nature while they stay at Lauvitel Lodge – and then to take this experience back home with them. We are very happy to see the community of nature-lovers growing around the Lodge every year. To nurture this community, we have transformed Lauvitel Lodge from a mountain refuge it once was into comfortable lodging for hosting events, as well as sole travellers, couples, families and groups of friends.

Every year Lauvitel Lodge keeps thriving thanks to hundreds of guests visiting us in La Danchere. They come for many different reasons – to cycle or hike in the summer, to ski in winter and for well-being retreats all year round.

With regularly returning visitors, a dedicated Lauvitel Team and a strong network of neighbouring businesses, Lauvitel Lodge is a part of a supportive community including guests, staff, visitors and friends. Within this community, there are many who come to the Lodge to kick-start their projects, find inspiration or simply meet others who are walking a similar path to theirs.

“In June 2016, I discovered Lauvitel Lodge during a Reiki retreat. This was an amazing experience: Tai chi, chi gong, meditation, hiking, initiation to Reiki, amazing food, super comfortable room, great views, peaceful garden and most of all: extraordinary people running the place. I have travelled all over the world but this is one of my top 5 best places on earth. I’ve come back a different person. Thanks Caroline for having given me more faith In myself. I’ll never ever forget that first stay (of many to come) at Lauvitel Lodge.” – Céline Maginel

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My inspiration is a desire to gain a deeper connection to and understanding of myself, something that I've been working hard on for so long and will continue to do in the future. I view a retreat as a wonderful way to focus entirely on this without the distractions of every day life! Nicola

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
