Since 1981, we have been delivering spectacular adventures into the Amazon Jungle as the area’s leading ecotourism operator. Join us in the Peru Jungle Tahuayo Reserve to experience the most biodiverse region yet studied. Your highly trained private guide and customized itinerary will deliver an unforgettable experience.
Amazonia Expeditions operates in the Amazon Basin, on the Tahuayo River, which is a tributary of the Amazon River in Peru. Our mission includes protecting the Amazon Rainforest through providing education, healthcare and jobs for the native population to encourage respect for their homes. Amazonia’s main lodge on the Tahuayo River is not a resort, nor a hotel, but a rustic lodge, comfortable for adventurous travelers. There are seventeen cabins; some are honeymoon cabins, with a king-size bed, others are cabins with two beds and a few are family style cabin-3-inside cabins with two floors with a matrimonial bed on the first floor and several single beds on the second floor. More than half of the cabins now have new private bathrooms. The others, often used for student groups, have shared bathrooms.
Each cabin is raised above the jungle floor on stilts and is connected to other buildings of the lodge by a raised boardwalk. Other buildings include a modern kitchen built to the highest standard of sanitary food preparation, dining hall, bar, areas to socialize and relax and a conservation education laboratory with library. The modern flush toilets and showers use a sanitary septic system. The water used in the plumbing comes from a well rather than water pumped from the river, which is typical of most jungle lodges.
AMAZON RESEARCH CENTER PERU LODGE
The Amazon Research Center Peru Lodge (ARC), is deeper in the forest than our main lodge, and allows for the viewing of undisturbed nature. Take advantage of our trail grid, which is the largest scientific trail grid offered in the Amazon. This trail grid spans over 1000 acres, and covers 4 separate ecosystems, making it more remote pristine forest, and offering a greater diversity of wildlife.
VISTA AMAZONICA – IQUITOS
For our guests convenience we also offer our bed & breakfast service in Iquitos city. A great addition to our main office and port complex, the rooms here are exclusively offered to our jungle guests, so you will not find much information about it online except on our website. It is located right on the riverbank and is only a few minutes away from the main plaza (tourist district) by motor taxi. If you have the time, it is a great place to stay for a few days before or after your visit to our lodges. These rooms fill up fast so please let us know well in advance if you wish to add a stay at “Vista Amazonica” to enhance your trip!
