About Wild View Retreat
Wild View Retreat has arisen from the ruins of an abandoned mountain village of Corgas Bravas, in the foothills of the Algarve in Portugal.
Originally built by a Portuguese Army General in 1898, the ‘Manor House’ and surrounding ruins have undergone a 1.5 year restoration and redevelopment project, transforming the iconic setting into a bespoke wellness retreat.
Wild View Retreat is defined by its spectacular uninterrupted 360° views of the Serra do Caldeirão mountains, a Zona De Intervenção Florestal protected for its natural beauty and famous Portuguese cortiça (cork) trees.
There are no cars, no roads, no buildings, no neighbours. Nothing but wilderness and nature. Nothing to hear but the birds and the wind. Nothing to do but restore and relax the body, mind and soul.
On the retreat all guests will be away from the pressures of modern society, isolated in nature embarking on a programme of detoxification, wellness and fitness, working towards restoring health and balance in our lives. You’ll return home feeling brand new and fantastic!
What to expect: Yoga, fitness classes, expert nutritious meals or juice fasting, nutritional therapy, guided walks, massage, gentle meditation, swimming, sunbathing, relaxing – it’s a holiday after all!
What not to expect: Alcohol, smoking or indulgent calorific meals. The retreat is adults only and the use of electronic devices and WIFI is restricted to designated places away from communal areas.
We do not follow any specific type of yoga philosophy or spiritual view and adopt an open door policy to all. Please note, due to the type of programmes we run, the Wild View Retreat is not suitable for under 18s.
I've just come back from a week long fitness & yoga retreat. I loved everything about Wild View Retreat - the location is beautiful, it feels secluded but is still close enough to Faro airport to be easy to get to. The mountain paths are great for early morning runs / hikes. The rooms are decorated very tastefully to a high standard, and I appreciate that a hair dryer, shampoo etc. comes as standard. The communal areas are spacious, and there is also plenty of outdoor space for relaxing, both down by the pool, the roof terrace, and space outside each room. Food and drink was delicious and Andrew really listened to the guests - we asked for some changes to the menu and this was happily accommodated. Finally, the yoga / fitness room and the deck was stunning, definitely the nicest place I have ever done yoga! I would definitely recommend Wild View Retreat and would love to return. - Heather - Google Guide A wonderful retreat in a stunning location close to Faro! Spent an amazing week full of yoga, fitness and delicious juices/soups at the awesome Wild View Retreat. The days are packed with activities, such as two daily yoga and fitness classes with top instructors, guided walks with Andrew around the hills and nutritional talks. In the afternoon you have time to relax at the pool or in the hammocks, and evenings are cozy watching documentaries or having guided meditations. You can do as much or as little in those activities as you wish and feel. The place and accommodation/interior is very tastefully designed, so much attention given to details to make you feel comfortable. Everything is spotless clean all the time thanks to the wonderful staff. Also, a lot of work has been done to make this retreat environmentally sustainable. Andrew and Erika created a gorgeous space for people coming together and having a good time and experience to share with each other. Don't hesitate to go there, you won't regret it. I had a wonderful time and hope to return back soon! - Anna
Venue HighlightsJuice Fasting & Nutrition with Yoga and Fitness
Fasting has been a part of human tradition for many, many centuries – most religions periodically fast as an act of faith or penance – often as a means of purification. Way back in the 5th century Hippocrates the Greek ‘Father of Medicine’, recommended abstinence from food to reduce symptoms of illness and boost immunity. In today’s increasingly materialistic and overindulgent society, regardless of our individual faith or non-faith traditions, we can all benefit from fasting from time to time.
Fasting has many health benefits. It provides our overworked digestive system a well-earned rest from near 24/7 breaking down of food all day and night. Cellular energy is diverted to maintenance and repair of other bodily systems. Ultimately caloric restriction, within limit, detoxifies the body, slows the ageing process and gives a significant boost to the immune system and energy levels.
At Wild View Retreat guests are provided 3 delicious juices everyday alongside a warming soup or nutritious drink in the evening. The juices have been carefully designed by our nutritional therapist to support the detox process yet keep nutrient levels sustained to enable daily participation of the fitness and yoga classes. The busy programme of activity is deliberate to keep you distracted while you go through the fast. A daily programme of workshops and talks are provided to support improving dietary and lifestyle habits. When guests’ finish the week they feel renewed and reenergised armed with the tools and techniques to make positive improvements to their lifestyle.
Note on the last day of the fast guests have the option to break the fast with food samples made during cooking demos under guidance of the nutritional therapist.
