About This Center
Laboratorium Pieśni (Song Laboratory) lead traditional singing workshops, using Alina Jurczyszyn method of work with voice, body and breath, inspired by trainings from the Centre for Theatre Practices GARDZIENICE and music works of Grotowski Institute, in its forest base in Brzezinka (Poland). Workshops are led by the founders of Laboratorium Pieśni: Alina Jurczyszyn and Kamila Bigus.
The songs by Laboratorium Pieśni resonate deep within the body and are from the wild places of nature, and their effects are deeply healing. They are for all who want to free their natural voice, the untrained and trained singer, and they place you at the beginning of a new journey with your voice.
The aim of the retreat is to deepen your relationship with your own voice, breath, body and search for your own personal song and sound. You are taught to overcome your fear to explore sounds on many levels and awakening the musical strings that are asleep in us.
“An amazing weekend and I feel blessed to have been a part of it. I found parts of my voice that I have never encountered before. Totally energizing and liberating." "The songs have continued to sing through my bones since last weekend, particularly stoy pa moru!" “It was absolutely heavenly and beautiful to connect with all the lovely people attending. The circle was so deeply touching and personally I’ve felt a shift in myself as a result of being there to experience it all.” Laboratorium Pieśni have been described as "a gifted group of musical medicine women weaving ancient healing techniques and folk songs into soul-stirring events that sing to your ancestral memory. Reviving the simple yet profound tradition of community folk singing, they create sacred space in which to harmonies voices within hauntingly powerful songs."
