About This Center

The Shipibo tribe is an ethnic group whose traditional residence is the Peruvian Selva. The main part of the tribe lives in settlements and communes around the city of Pucallpa, and along the river Ucayali.

Like no other, the Shibo people are renowned for their deep knowledge of medicinal plants, which are abundant in the jungles of the Amazon.

Plant-based medicine is part of local culture, rooted in deep antiquity. One of its differences from Western medicine is that knowledge is not transferred in writing. A person seeking to obtain them must plunge into certain conditions, become part of a complex process known as a diet with a plant. Under the conditions of the diet under the guidance of an experienced shaman, the spirit of the plant conveys sacred knowledge to the student, teaching him on a subconscious level. There are two types of plant diets - for healing and for gaining knowledge.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

It would my first vacation in the mountains. I think getting away and beginning a new routine would be good for me and a friend. Dianne
