Moksha Yoga Amazónica at the Puerto Mirador Hotel

About This Center

Located in the most stunning location of Moyobamba the Puerto Mirador hotel was originally built by the Peruvian government as part of a wider national effort to increase tourism in the country. The location was selected just above a valley overseeing mountains, and as such has a wide open feel and view. Abundant clouds of mist rise from the valley every morning (and sometimes also at night), making meditation practice enchanting and surreal. Fruits growing on the property include mangos, oranges, rose-apples, yellow and green coconuts, guava, and more! The hotel features a pool to refresh yourself after asana practice, and boasts various enchanting spots to practice yoga and meditate, both indoors and outside on the grass or on a large stone-covered area overseeing the mountains.

The hotel is walking distance from the Mirador of Tahuisco, which is a collection of small pedestrians-only streets with shops, restaurants, and a chocolate museum. From there, you can walk down towards the river for a swim or a boat ride in the Mayo river.

Venue Highlights

Moyobamba in general, and the Puerto Mirador in particular, offer you the opportunity to breathe fresh air, slow down, reconnect with nature, and observe the present moment while truly relaxing and reflecting in this unique jungle oasis. When you stop to observe, you will see hummingbirds, toucans, and monkeys visiting the space daily, and sometimes the resident owls also show their faces!

Accommodations

Students will reside and practice at the Puerto Mirador hotel in a residential and communal environment in private or shared rooms with breathtaking views.

The rooms are spacious, have new and comfortable mattresses, private balconies overseeing the gardens and mountains, wifi, a mini-fridge where you can keep some food and the fruits you harvest ;), and modern private bathrooms with hot showers and flushing toilets.

Directions

ARRIVAL BY AIRPLANE
To Tarapoto airport (TPP). Transfer from airport to the hotel by car takes 1h45mins, with a quick pit stop to buy fresh coconuts or other fruits :)

OPTION A) INCLUDED TRANSPORTATION WITH OTHER STUDENTS
Transfer by car from Tarapoto to Moyobamba is included in the price of the training. Please communicate your arrival date and time after you have booked your flight so that we can coordinate. You may have to wait a little at the airport restaurant for others to arrive to share a taxi.

OPTION B) INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRAVELING BY YOURSELF
If you do not wish to wait, you can come to Moyobamba by yourself easily and cheaply:
A. Take a mototaxi from the airport to the Tarapoto taxi (colectivo) station (cost is 5 soles or 1.50US$ / mototaxi)
B. Take a taxi (colectivo) to Moyobamba, which costs 20 soles (6US$) / person. There are many taxi companies offering this service; we recommend Turismo Cajamarca, Turismo San Martin, or Etrisa as good options.
C. Take another tuk-tuk/mototaxi from the Moyobamba taxi/colectivo station to the Puerto Mirador hotel (cost is 5 soles or 1.50US$ / mototaxi)
*You do not need to speak Spanish to manage this, simply say "colectivo para Moyobamba" to the many tuk-tuk drivers awaiting by the airport exit doors, and then say "para Moyobamba" when arriving at the colectivo station, then say "para el hotel puerto mirador" when hopping on a mototaxi from the Moyobamba taxi/colectivo station.

ARRIVAL BY BUS FROM LIMA
You can travel from Lima to Moyobamba by bus, which take about 24 hours. We recommend the bus companies "Movil Tours" and "GH Bus" as good service options.

On the first day of the training, you can arrive anytime during the day, with the opening ceremony taking place at 5pm
