About us

In our Yoga-week, ´Time for Silence`, we want to try to be non-knowing. We want to empty our mind rather than fill it with new thoughts. One method to achieve this, is Yoga. Another method is Zen-Meditation. We try to combine these two methods. Aim is the inner relaxation, and through relaxation the emptying of our mind.

We basically practice two yoga forms

Hatha Yoga is a form of yoga in which we practice classical positions of yoga and energize our bodies.

Yin Yoga is a form of yoga in which we gently stretch our ligaments and tendons. There is no goal in yin yoga. Releasing goals, the mindfulness of exhalation, soothe our mind and prepare us for meditation practice.

Zazen is the meditation practice of Zen Buddhism

In the zazen the sitting is important and the concentration on the method of meditation (e.g. breath counting). Regular practice has an impact on our physical and mental well-being.

The units are for beginners and experienced. What is required is the readiness to sit still on a pillow, as well as a minimum of mobility.

Iž is an island in the Zadar Archipelago within the Croatian reaches of the Adriatic Sea. It is situated between Ugljan on the north-east and Dugi Otok on the south-west and is about an hour’s ship ride from Zadar. Main activities are sailing, fishing, olive cultivation and pottery. The island is very popular amongst foreign tourists, largely due to its great beaches.

Free Retreat Givewaway

We love you. And because we do, we're giving away another free retreat.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Reconnecting with myself after a very crazy few months with a new baby! Just having that feeling of being grounded again. But also having an opportunity to connect with new amazing people. Getting exposed and Inspired by new (to me) yoga instructors (and community). Being in the presence of real, authentic and raw emotion (the whole spectrum).. So many reasons! Alyson

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
