Dr. HC Xavier Parra Mondéjar is an integrative physiotherapist, Andean medicine practitioner and co-founder of Flor de la Vida — Terapia Integral, based in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Trained as a physiotherapist in Spain, Xavier has dedicated his career to understanding the human body not as a mechanical system, but as a living expression of a person's history, emotions and nervous system. His work goes far beyond treating muscles or joints — it integrates posture, breathing, nervous system regulation, emotion, body awareness, movement, nutrition, energy and lifestyle into a single coherent therapeutic approach.
Xavier holds an Honorary Doctorate in Andean Medicine, Ancestral Medicine and Alternative Medicine, and works as a certified Andean medicine practitioner within the integrative framework of Flor de la Vida.
His training and experience integrate physiotherapy, Basic Body Awareness Therapy (BBAT), nervous system regulation, oxidative therapies, clinical phytotherapy, functional mushrooms, sea water protocols, functional movement, Andean medicine and ancestral plant medicines.
Xavier's core belief is simple: the body speaks what the mind hasn't yet been able to process. Pain is not always mechanical. Tension is not always physical. The body holds the history of a person — and learning to listen to it is one of the most powerful acts of healing.
From birth, Xavier has carried a rare and profound gift — the ability to sense and perceive beyond the visible: energies, dimensions and the deeper layers of the human being that most people cannot access. This innate gift, developed and refined over a lifetime, allows him to perceive what others cannot see, to sense what others cannot feel, and to guide people through their deepest inner landscapes with clarity, protection and precision. He is also a specialist in identifying and working with negative and malignant energies — creating a space of safety, protection and deep energetic cleansing for those who need it most.
This gift is not separate from his clinical work. It is woven into everything he does — the way he reads a body, the way he holds a ceremony, the way he knows exactly where someone needs presence, touch or simply silence.
During retreats, Xavier leads the physical and somatic accompaniment — body awareness sessions, conscious movement, breathwork, grounding, rapé ceremony and full physical presence throughout the ancestral medicine process. He is on the ground, present and attentive, at every moment of the journey.
For Xavier, this is not a profession. It is a calling. The retreats, the ancestral medicine, the therapeutic accompaniment — this is his life, his love and his way of being in the world. Every retreat is an act of deep devotion to the human being in front of him. Every ceremony is held with the same care, presence and passion as the first. This work is not something Xavier does. It is something Xavier is.
Xavier and Carolina are not just professional partners. They are life partners, parents and friends. Something greater than a shared project unites them — a calling, a way of being in the world and a deep love for this work and for the human being. What they offer in their retreats is not just knowledge or experience. It is the lived truth of two people who have chosen to make healing, presence and human transformation the centre of their lives — together.
At Flor de la Vida, Xavier has developed a model of integrative physiotherapy and ancestral medicine accompaniment where each person is seen not as a diagnosis or a symptom, but as a complete human being deserving of real care, real presence and real transformation.
