About us

Registration for this retreat opens June 1, 2017.

Life is uncertain; death is certain.” -Gautama Buddha.

Each of us will die, not one of us will be left out. Buddhism considers the moments and days surrounding death to be the most important opportunity for enlightenment. In this retreat, you will be offered practical tools, information, and Buddhist teachings to help you plan and prepare for this event. If you allow yourself the time to consider your own death with clarity, loving kindness, compassion and tenderness, you will learn to move beyond—beyond fear, apprehension, and denial. You will move into an acceptance and greater understanding of the nature of impermanence. Your willingness to contemplate and prepare for death will be a gift to yourself and your loved ones: You will create a plan for your physical and spiritual care, a plan that can be referenced before and after your death.

Dharma classes include teachings and practices from Tibetan Buddhism. Services and ritual will include those from the Soto Zen Tradition of Anattasati Magga. Daily schedule includes mindfulness ritual as well as seated and walking meditation, Dharma classes and study periods. Except for Dharma class discussions, the retreat will be held in silence. Southern Dharma library will not be available during this retreat.

Free Retreat Givewaway

We love you. And because we do, we're giving away another free retreat.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Retreats inspire me to continue to practice and fuel my journey. I always find specified intention and feel it projects me closer to my purpose. Shannon

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
