About us

Avodah is a Hebrew word meaning both work & worship.

Five Oaks was founded on the belief that “worship and work are one” – and so during Avodah Time we continue to honour this tradition through work/worship projects, such as raking, brush clearing, and painting. Also included is an outreach project, spiritual programming, games, art, and campfire fun!

For grade 6 & up.  Volunteer hours available for high schoolers.

All youth must bring a signed consent form, please note there are 3 pages that need to be completed. The second page is permission to be included in a video and the third page is a permission form for a nature hike.   AVODAH Consent Forms

Starting on Wednesday at 9:30 am and ending with lunch on Thursday.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

To be more present and engaged in the world, to be of benefit to others. Vincent

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
