The Yoga of Sound retreat is an opportunity not only to free your voice, but to help open up and transform years of stuck energy from the suppression we all have felt growing up and for those still living with it. This conditioning dampens our spirit later in life and many find it hard to speak up for themselves.

During The Yoga of Sound retreat, we practice removing our armour of fear, worry and doubt through the vibration of sound with a healing tool accessible to each of you. Accessing our naked voice brings up our vulnerability yet, in turn, allows each of us to transform old conditioning as we tap into an inner inspiration of joy, courage and personal power.

The practice of sounding happens when we become deeply aware of the silence through deep conscious listening; and in turn, we are gifted presence. Sounding, singing, mantras, breathing and listening are all powerful practices to anchor us to the present moment. Then, to witness what is arising signals the opening of our conscious awareness. When this begins to happen, it’s as if we are opening up to different parts of ourselves that we might never have experienced before. It holds a sense of freedom and self-discovery.

If you think you cannot sing, or you already love to sing, this retreat is for you. It’s about coming together as a collective and sharing our breaths in a conscious audible way that manifests as sacred sound.

Our practices include daily singing, mantras, vocal play, breath work, toning, meditation, and sound journeys. Time for rest and ocean walks. Daily movement practice, which can include asana, Tai Chi or dance.

Explore the subtlety of inner vibrations and allow it to enhance your awareness through listening, breathing and movement.

What you will gain from this retreat: Knowledge of how to use Sound/Silence 

At this retreat, you will be immersed into the world of Nada Yoga, a practice which includes vocal play, singing, and sounding. We’ll work on not only technique of signing, scales and breathing, but unlock knowledge of how to use Sound & Breath to transform stuck emotions and re-program old beliefs about your voice.

It doesn’t matter if you are an operatic singer or tone deaf as a chicken, our workshop will offer you a new way to connect to yourself and the world around you.  Some of the tools we’ll work on include:

Our morning practice will start at 7:30

 7:30-10:00 Conscious Connection practice with meditation, asana, breathing, mantras and sounding.

10:00-11:00 Brunch  

11:00 – 1:00 Vocal play ( Every second day)

  1:30 -  4:00 Relax, let go, reflect, explore, enjoy

  4:00 – 6:30 Evening practice include a variation of vocal play, toning, healing with sound, and silent meditation.

  7:00 – 8:00 Buffet Dinner

  8:00 – 9:00 Three different night events, that include, Sound journey, meditation and Yoga nidra

Last Session is the morning session of Jan 14th

Venue and Location:


Devarya Wellness, located in a coastal village in North Goa, India, overlooks the Morjim Beach. This beautiful beach stretch is also known as Turtle Beach after the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles that nest on its shores. A quiet and peaceful setting, Morjim with its lush green hills, clean beaches and the Chapora river running through it is a popular destination for foreign travellers and expats.

Known for its serene atmosphere, the Morjim Beach is a great setting for a yoga holiday. It has something for everyone, whether it is a soul-searcher who is looking for tranquillity or someone looking to enjoy a relaxing beach vacation.
Morjim beach is a delight for nature lovers too. Apart from the Olive Ridley turtles, a variety of flora and fauna can be spotted here. For those interested, dolphin sighting trips are offered by locals. You can even take a walk up the famous Chapora Fort for great views of the sandy beach and the green palms.
Spend the yoga life here, doing your practice, going for a swim, meditating on the beach and enjoying spectacular sunsets as you soak in the sights and sounds of this beautiful place.

  • The wooden beach cottages are situated less than a one minute walk from the Indian Ocean of Morjim Beach and the Chai Café.

They are the biggest rooms with a specifically designed theme, based on the chakras. Each room is painted and designed reflecting this specific chakra.

Menu at Devarya Wellness:

They strive to provide and offer the best they can, which is seen in the wide range of items offered in the delicious buffet style of healthy options.

Example of some items served at buffet brunch include

Your choice – either one veg or fruit juice

Egg station – order the eggs cooked to your preferred taste, made in front of you.

Fruit platter - various fresh fruit options to choose from

Brown bread - always served wihomemadeade jams

Salads - a variety of fresh veggies and lettuce for those who prefer to have raw options

Porridge –various kinds of porridge are served each day

Yogurt & Muesli – each day you can fill your fruit bowl with fresh yogurt and muesli

Seeds & Dry fruit – give a bit more flavor and nourishment with your yogurt is the option of various seeds and dry fruit.

Potatoes – some days will include roasted, fried potatoes

Indian Items – since your in India, some local traditional foods will be served which change each day

Vegan Options included in each meal

· Chick pea pancake


There is a two week rotation of international vegetarian cuisine that includes a full course meal that is themed on the different country of origin.

Passport And Visas

You will need a valid passport to travel to India.

The passport should be valid for a minimum period of 190 days (6 months) and must have 2 blank pages out of which one page is required for affixing the visa sticker and other page will be used by the immigration officer for entry and exit from India.

Money And Finances

The local currency in India is the Indian Rupee (INR). We recommend that you have some cash with you when entering the country, either a few hundred USD, CAD or INR.

Ask for some small denominations as there is a constant problem getting change. Never take ripped bills as they are not accepted in the bank.

There are plenty of ATMs machines at the airport and in select locations in Goa, though they sometimes are broken. If you head to the main market it’s suggested to keep a money belt inside your pants. Always carry Rupees in your pockets so that way if you want to buy something small like a souvenir or a coconut, you will not have to bring out your money belt in the middle of the market

A suggested what to bring list


  • Meditation shawl and a light sweater or wrap
  • Light rain jacket and cover up or fleece
  • Sturdy shoes for walking/exploring, and flip flops
  • Lighter moveable yoga pants, crops (loose fitting cotton is better than spandex in this weather)
  • Skirts and shorts
  • Several tank tops t-shirts and long-sleeved shirts
  • Bathing suit and sarong
  • Pajamas and under garments and a few pairs of socks
  • One set of clothes for touring, such as capri pants or a long skirt.


  • Smaller day pack (can be carry-on luggage in the plane.)
  • Yoga mat (they fold well or fit rolled in a large backpack – the retreat center does have some mats)
  • Small flashlight, combination padlock, and alarm clock
  • Travel money belt in cotton (available at luggage stores)
  • Travel bath towel (not too thick, i.e. quick-drying)
  • Journal and several pens

Sequoia’s Henning

Sequoia's life journey has been an ongoing evolvement of her spiritual development through the study and ongoing practice of yoga, healing and sound. She has been leading sound healing workshops and sound healing journeys internationally for over 15 years. Her passion for breath and sound are interwoven into the practical tools for expanding consciousness. Having healed herself using the tools of breath, sound and positive thoughts and affirmation, her passion come through in her sharing.

Shir Shemesh 

Music has been Shir’s main passion and occupation since childhood when he began his musical journey playing the recorder and violin. Now, he shares his love of music and the divine consciousness through leading Kirtan sessions (chanting mantras). Shir is inspired by the healing power of magical sounds and uses this inspiration regularly in his teachings. Born in Israel, Shir was always occupied with moral and political questions, longing for a more peaceful environment. 

What is Nada Yoga? 

 Nada is a Sanskrit word that means sound. Though the practice of Nada Yoga is not one specific practice, it covers a wide range of practical exercises. Some Nada Yoga practices include vocal play, singing, and sounding the Indian scales and mantras. Part of Nada Yoga is learning to fine-tune your ability to listen to audible and inaudible sounds which are an aspect of subtle vibration.
