"Life has a meaning and it hasn´t. It depends on who you are. If you really live your life, then life has a meaning. Everybody has a life, but not all of them live. Everybody has the right to be happy, but we have to exercise this right.”
~ Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche
Our 1 week Retreats happen every Sunday in the magical Colombian mountains near Medellin, focus on applying mindfulness in all daily activities, training to be present: while eating, practicing sitting and walking meditation and yoga, listening in the daily question-answer and discussion groups, or simply enjoying a cup of tea together.
All practitioners are also happily invited to participate in practicing Karma Yoga during their stay - whether by helping to prepare meals, cleaning dishes, working in the gardens, or taking care of our animals.
"Experience for life. 7 special days with wonderful people and an excelent and kind teacher. Thank you!"

If you have no financial resources, please feel free to apply for our volunteering programs.
La Casa de Loto is a small non-religious Minfulness Meditation & Yoga Retreat Center, set within a magical 30.000 square meter reforestation project in the Colombian mountains, just one hour away from Medellin City and 45 minutes from its international airport JMC. We offer you a nourishing place in nature, to balance mind and body with daily guided Meditations, Yoga Classes, healthy organic food, and silence.
All our retreats are guided by Karma Pema Tsering, a scholar and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism, and a certified Hatha/ Sati Yoga teacher. The emphasis is on the practice of analytical LamRim Meditations, Shamatha (calm abiding), and tibetan Yoga - and to teach you how to integrate the practices into your daily lives so you can become more relaxed, and healthy.
All practitioners are also happily invited to participate practicing Karma Yoga during their stay - whether by helping to prepare meals, cleaning dishes, working in the gardens, or taking care of our animals.
"If in our daily life we can smile, if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work."

"I loved every minute of my stay at the Finca. Michael is a great teacher and I loved the healthy food. I saw wonderful birds and enjoyed the company of Samantha and Maria..."
Good health always begins with good digestion and lays emphasis on healthy, fresh, tasty and easy to digest foods. According to Ayurveda, an incorrect diet can be the cause of virtually every condition and disease. In fact, food is considered a natural medicine and a balanced diet the main resource for good health.
The foods you eat affect your Doshas (mind-body constitution) and their balance in your body. What will suit one person may well affect others differently. A good point to start with is to stick to a diet that favours foods soothing your dominant Dosha. However, you do not have to eliminate anything from your menu, Ayurveda is not about ridiculous dietary regimes, but about guiding principles: Just try eating a bit more of the foods that balance your dominant Dosha (or any other one that is temporarily overstimulated) and a bit less of the foods that do not. At no cost start to feverishly avoid them – this will only increase your appetite for those foods and suppress the natural cravings of your body, for it knows best what it needs at any given time. During your stay at La Casa de Loto you will be be served three well balanced, gluten-free vegetarian dishes a day, with a chicken option for the ones who need it. If you come here for a weekly or a monthly retreat, we will also write you a personalised nutrition plan which you can then follow at home to get balanced.
We can accommodate gluten free and vegetarian. Our food is organic and farm fresh.
You will sleep in a cabin on our farm. The cabin will be shared with maximum 5 other people. In the cabin you find 2 bedrooms, each with 3 beds, a shared bathroom, a pantry and a living room.
