Yoga Retreat in Puglia (with cooking classes)

About us

A Taste of Puglia

I am delighted to announce this lovely retreat which I will be hosting again in the beautiful Italian countryside. I am heading back for the 4th year running and absolutely love it there. As it was so enjoyed last year, we are again giving you an opportunity to roll your sleeves up and get involved in some cooking so if you feel like it you can learn how to make homemade pasta, focaccia and many more Italian treats. Or if you prefer you can head out to the fields and pick lovely fresh fruit and vegetables and create your own delights.

Dates:
June 30th – July 7th  2018

Location:
Masseria della Zingara - a stunning 18th century Masseria situated in 20 tranquil acres of olive, cherry and almond groves, located in beautiful Puglia, in the south of Italy.

Accommodation:
Set within 20 beautiful acres of olive, cherry and almond groves, Masseria della Zingara – The House of the Gypsy – is a stunning traditional Pugliese farmhouse constructed in local limestone at the beginning of the 18th century. Lovingly restored, the farmhouse retains wonderful original features, such as communal living rooms with vaulted ceilings, while all rooms are decorated to offer guests modern comfort in simple and elegant style.

The main house features a kitchen, dining room and two large living areas located on the ground floor. The kitchen leads out on to a large, shaded terrace with views over the gardens to the pool

Accommodation is split into 2 elegant apartments linked at the rear by another terrace. Both apartments feature spacious bedrooms and another sitting area in which to relax. These have sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, which, forming part of the Masseria estate is yours to explore.

Both double and twin rooms are available, with ensuite and single accommodation available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The area:
The Masseria is set in beautiful Puglia, in the south of Italy with the unspoiled Puglian coastline just 7 kilometres away. Despite a very private location (that you may not wish to leave!), the farmhouse is located close to a small village offering specialist shops, small restaurants and the medieval white towns of Valle d’Itrea. The town of Bari is just 45 minutes away and also within reach is the coastal town of Polignano, famous for its Italian gelato. For those wanting a relaxing break the accommodation offers the perfect opportunity to relax by the pool and enjoy the grounds. However for those wanting to explore in their spare time there is plenty to do and see! Trips can be organized further afield, or should you want to stay local then bicycles are available to use at the Masseria, leaving you free to explore.

Yoga:
The retreat will offer a variety of yoga styles, including; vinyasa flow, yin and restorative yoga. There will also be meditation infused into the retreat through early morning walks, during the yoga and some after dinner sessions. Each full day on the retreat will include two opportunities to practice but both are entirely optional. The classes will be suitable for all levels of yoga, and plenty of options will be offered. I teach a very inclusive style so all levels of expereince are very welcome.

Schedule:
Each day will begin with an uplifting practice focused around setting intentions for the day ahead. This will be held either in the stunning yoga shala, or outside surrounded by the beautiful environment of the Masseria. After the morning practice you will enjoy a delicious breakfast on the terrace. The day will then be yours to enjoy, and in the early evening we will meet again to enjoy a relaxing yoga class.

There will also be some optional cooking classes to get involved in where you will be able to learn how to make lovely traditional dishes such as pasta, gnocchi, focaccia and taralli from scratch.

Pricing:
Prices start from £895pp and includes accommodation, transfers to and from Bari airport*, 2 yoga classes a day and the cooking sessions if you want to partake in them. Testimonial from previous years:

""It was only the second retreat that my wife and I had been on but it nevertheless exceeded expectations. Very well organised and got the balance just right between organised activities and free time - plenty of options to explore either with or separately to the group. The location is amazing, the Masseria is stunning, and the home-grown and fresh home-made food is excellent. Clive's approach to yoga on the retreat is extremely inclusive and supportive; there was a strong focus on listening to your body and accepting whatever level of commitment to the yoga you felt was right for you at that time. That said, there was plenty of yoga and meditation on offer each day, and Clive was more than happy to provide little extras like early morning walks and meditation, or smaller informal classes focusing on specific techniques. All in all, an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable week in a beautiful part of Italy, and highly recommended for all levels."

"Just perfect! The unique combination of Clive’s teaching, Jan’s hospitality and the beautiful surroundings of the Masseria De La Zingara made this a very special week"

"The entire week was full of peace, fun, laughter (and yoga!) and this is testament to Clive. His energy, commitment and the open environment he created enabled people to share in an experience yet at the same time enjoy the holiday they way they wanted to"

"This was a beautiful choice of location and clearly a lot of mindfulness and care was put into the week. Clive created a perfect environment for the group to connect and to explore, collectively & individually. I felt nurtured, free and happy"

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My inspiration sparks from my innate charge to connect with a collective innate goodness. I aspire to live in a way that continuously blossoms and embraces my wise and compassionate human nature. Freundl
