About us

Individual awakening is crucial for social transformation. As humanity faces the ultimate disorder of our planet, we don’t know how to, or are unable to respond. We understand intrinsically that we are one human family. Yet, there are barriers for cultivating the relationships and measures to envision and undertake a solution to this eco-crisis. Perhaps there is an important parallel between our personal predicaments and our collective predicament in relation to the rest of the biosphere! Join Dr. David Loy, professor, internationally known Buddhist lecturer and author as he inspires us to examine the ecological implications for modern times that exist in our comparative wisdom teachings. We will discuss concrete steps we can take to connect with our “one human family” over lines of religion, political affiliation, race and status to respond with an envision-able and manageable shift from global eco-disaster to a revitalized world.

Cost for the day is $75, plus dana to the teacher and Heartwood. For an additional $49, you can join us after the program for dinner, and, then, from 7-9 p.m., an intimate conversation with David. You’ll stay the night at Heartwood, and have breakfast with us the next morning.

There are a limited number of scholarships available for people with economic difficulties.

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
