About us


Metta, or Lovingkindness, is the natural state of friendliness in the human heart when it is not startled, or angry or confused.  Through the practice of metta, we strengthen our capacity for self-acceptance, decreasing reactivity, steadying the mind, and feeling connected with others.

In this Silent Retreat, we will explore the formal practice of metta, using phrases of well-wishing for ourselves, those near and dear, as well as for the world.  Additional supports in cultivating metta include the practice of radiating a spacious heartful awareness & calling in internal images of those for whom we wish well.  

In addition, we will include metta’s companion heart qualities, which are compassion, joy & equanimity.  Simple qi gong practice will be offered to support the somatic experience of all of these awakened qualities of heart.

Each day will include periods of sitting and walking meditation, Dharma talks, guided meditations and optional qi gong practice.  During the retreat, the teacher will offer small group & individual check in’s to support your practice.

This retreat is recommended for both new & experienced meditators.
