About This Event

India is a place where your soul can breathe. Experience a traditional yoga retreat in the spiritual heart of the world. Kerala is known as 'God's own country' and this is a beautiful opportunity to step into a different culture and a different way of living.

Yoga, meditation, and pranayama classes each day plus an excursion to the historic Sivananda Ashram, private backwaters tour and an Ayurvedic massage treatment to soothe your body.

This is the third time the Heart of Yoga team has led a retreat in Varkala - let us show you the hidden gems of this spectacular seaside village as you practice with us each day.

Go above and beyond what is taught in a typical yoga class - you will spend time each day deepening your understanding of asana and the function of each pose (and how to best express it in your own unique body), meditation (we will explore a variety of techniques including trataka and antar mouna) and pranayama (experience beginner to advanced breath work).

Mornings begin with asana and a vegetarian breakfast (included in your retreat price) and some free time for you to explore the local area or simply sip a fresh coconut while relaxing on the beach.

Lunch is also included and we practice meditation, pranayama and sometimes a relaxing yoga nidra before we eat. There is some more free time each afternoon before our afternoon class.

At dinner, you are encouraged to sample the local cuisine either on your own or in a group and we have an optional evening meditation to help you wind down before bed.

As we are here over Easter you will witness the Easter Elephant Parade - decked out in flowers and decorations, making their way down the main street. We will also pay a visit to the historic Sivananda Ashram and take a private tour of the beautiful backwaters of Kerala.
