Cleansing, Healing & Learning in the Amazon - 2018

About us

Much more than a native founded and owned retreat center, Parign Hak is the home of a Harakbut family from the native community of Shintuya which formally received its first visitors in April 2015.

It is located on communal lands on the Upper Madre de Dios River in Amazonian Southeastern Peru, in between two major natural protected areas: the Manu Biosphere Reserve, which is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, and the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve, the ancestral Harakbut homeland.

Our team offers traditional and transformational female-led Ayahuasca retreats in combination with an unforgettable cultural experience within the natural mountain rainforest environment of the Harakbut people. We include plant baths in our therapeutic work as needed. Trips for small groups with special interest in plants and native culture can be offered upon request.

Retreats at Parign Hak are as much about holistic cleansing, healing and learning about ourselves as they are for learning about local indigenous culture and its stunningly beautiful natural environment. They are environmentally sustainable, culturally respectful and re-affirming, highly educational, mutually beneficial and safe for female participants.

The owners and hosts of “Parign Hak” (Grandma´s Home) and nearby “Mini-hospital Majeno” (the ceremonial space) are Shintuya community members. Basic lodging in double cabin rooms with beds and mosquito netting are provided. Septic latrines, and river baths or cold showers are available. Meals are prepared using as much organic produce from the surrounding chacra (plantation) and river fish as possible, but a variety of vegetables brought in from Cusco is provided as well. They are served in a separate dining room that also houses a small but growing library.

Please inquire for dates and we will get back to you.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Retreats inspire me to continue to practice and fuel my journey. I always find specified intention and feel it projects me closer to my purpose. Shannon

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
