About This Event

Join us for the fourth week of July to enjoy the heat of the summer, a week of truly diverse programs, and an opportunity for new and returning Naramata Centre participants to enjoy highlights from 70 years of the Centre’s history. Join Jane Sanden, a former Centre Community Programs Summer Director, in creating nostalgic community events that are open to all and bring the best that the Centre’s history has to offer. And check out our diverse list of program offerings, from Solar Robotics to SoulCollage® to Tai Chi. For 70 years, Naramata Centre has welcomed people to our 23 acres of land on the shores of Lake Okanagan. Open to people of all ages, Naramata Centre is an inclusive, welcoming place to connect and deepen in mind, body and spirit.  Enjoy a program or retreat. Walk our labyrinth and visit our Chapel. Do yoga or play on our beach. Jump into the lake. Snooze or read in the shade under our canopy of trees. Sink into community and laugh or sing. Join others in Sacred Pause or meditate. Whether you are coming for the first or the 50th time, we look forward to your arrival – you are welcome here!

Naramata Children’s Program (Tressa Brotsky)

Ages 4-11
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon.
$190 + $25 materials fee

This is the week for you if you like to do things like make creations with unusual materials, explore the environment around you, play with yoga and stretching poses, cook, and sing, and even take time to chill out! Naramata Children’s Program will fill your mornings with adventure, fun, friendship and time to connect with the Spirit all around. Whether you like being with a lot of people, or to be a bit quieter with just a few friends, the leaders of Naramata Children’s Program create space for you to be you. A younger stream for children 4-6 years, and an older stream for children 7-11 years, will meet together and apart during the morning program time. Naramata Children’s Program week is lead by Tressa Brotsky and a second leader TBA.

Solar Science and Robotics (James Clendenan & Ross Thompson)

Ages 12+
Monday – Friday, 9:00-11:30 a.m.
$200 + $100 materials fee

Come spend your mornings solving puzzles with a multi-generational team of your peers. We will learn some of the science behind robotics and see what you can build with basic materials and some ingenuity. You never know what you might find when you peel back the cover of our modern world to see how things are built. With the power of the sun, and some teamwork, we’ll work together to solve challenges, and maybe win the day in the arena.

SoulCollage® (Allison Rennie)

Adults 17+
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon.
$250 + $50 materials fee

Pictures and images can communicate profound truths about our lives. SoulCollage® is an intuitive collage process for individuals and groups. If you can cut and you can paste, you can do SoulCollage®. Join with others in this engaging, hands-on workshop to begin creating your own SoulCollage® cards. Then use your cards to access your own inner wisdom by reading your cards individually or in groups. Sharing SoulCollage® cards is an enjoyable, enriching way to learn about yourself, deepen intimacy and strengthen community.

Easy Tai Chi and Qigong

Monday-Friday, 10:00-11:45 a.m.

The program will cover basics of Tai Chi and Qigong, including stance, posture, balance, weight shifting. Other aspects will include warm-ups, meditation, and a focus on two forms. One form is simple, fluid, and fun. The other will involve more attention to the precision of movements. Moves are not difficult, but require awareness of integrating all parts of the body with each posture, something we will work on.

Quilting and Singing (Linnea Good & Margie Davidson)

Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon.
$400 + $20 materials fee

These two deeply satisfying spiritual crafts will be threaded together into a week of instruction in artful prayer, song, hand sewing and quilt piecing. Let our voices join in a harmony of song as our hands stitch a harmony of colour! We will create a fabric landscape with the upside-down applique technique with Margie, beginning and ending our mornings with song and story, singing the landscape of our hearts. All skill levels are welcome. Bring your sewing machine along if you have one.

Winter Session Redux (Linda Hatfield, Bonnie Jardine, Loretta West and Dianne Baker)

Monday-Friday, 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Did you attend Naramata Winter Session? Have you always wanted to, but didn’t get a chance? Come to our Winter Session Redux for an opportunity to relive some of that experience, or try it on for size! Each day for five days you will experience a three-hour session of a topic similar to those that formed part of typical Winter Sessions of the past. Although some program ideas will be pre-planned, in keeping with the traditional Winter Session format, the “community” of participants will help design the program based on their interests and composition. Informal afternoon and evening programs may also emerge from and for the wider community. Session topics currently being considered include: Soul Collage®; Zentangle®; poetry; stress management; a look at end-of- life issues at a Death Café; aging with wisdom, and other interesting topics, all led by a team of former Winter Session participants.

      Family Reunion 2018.

Our family from far and wide, had a reunion the second week of July 2018 at the Naramata Centre at Naramata BC with some of us camping and the rest of us in the motel style accommodations. We all had a great experience and a good time in an ideal setting! The staff and the accommodations were great! We plan to go back again.

Thank you!

We're glad you've joined our retreat community. See you around :)

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Watching the sun come over the mountain in the morning inspires me! Holly
