If you have a sincere desire to change and the courage to look within, this retreat is for you.
We are a family, a tribe of the soul, and we hail from all over the Americas. We believe that change in the world begins with change in us and that Ayahuasca is one of the most powerful tools for evoking that change. Ayahuasca drops the barriers between your conscious self and your subconscious giving you a unique glimpse at what you really feel and why, allowing you to broaden your perception and heal the distortions holding you back.
The Ayahuasca given in our retreats is prepared by the Shipibo in the Peruvian Amazon, the culture that has been working with Ayahuasca for over three millennia; it is then hand-carried to Mexico. Those who give the medicine, the ayahuasqueros, have the compassion and wisdom that come from years of working with Ayahuasca. They trained with the Shipibo and continue to do so. They are savvy, committed and prepared. The rest of us all take Ayahuasca for personal work and know what it means to go through a process.
All of us at the retreat take the medicine. We embark on this journey and return from it, together. We are there for you as you need us. We are good companions for this experience, so whether you come as a novice or an advanced taker of medicina, you’re in good hands.

The Retreat Site:
The Xochipilli Retreat Center is located in the jungle on the outskirts of Cancun in an area called El Ramonal. It’s surrounded by the beauty of Mother Nature, far from the madding crowd and all distraction.
How We Operate:
Day one of the retreat is dedicated to arriving and getting settled. There’s time to explore the center, meet your fellow participants and get acquainted with us. We share a welcome dinner, discuss the week ahead and answer any questions you may have. We pay close attention to the group dynamic as it evolves and the energies that are moving and make small changes in the order of activities as required. All Ayahuasca ceremonies are done at night and we have a temazcal the afternoon following two of the ceremonies..
For Ceremony Days: Subject to change. Additional activities integrated into the non-ceremony days.
The optimum diet for working with Ayahuasca is vegan which we modify slightly with the occasional fish or egg dish. Our meals are homemade, right down to and including the tortillas. We work with regional fruit, vegetables and herbs in novel and traditional combinations. You’ll enjoy vegan tacos, gazpachos, vegetable soups, seawood wraps and more. Some light fasting on ceremony days is required.
*If you have special dietary needs, advise us and we’ll work with you.
The bungalows have two double beds each, a fan over each bed and a bathroom with a shower. The mother house has two bedrooms: one with a king-size bed, the other with two double beds, both share a bathroom. Bathrooms are also located in the mother house and around the pool next to the maloca (the ceremonial structure used for the ceremonies).
Fly into the Cancun International Airport. The ride from the airport to the retreat center is about 40 minutes and we meet your plane. Google Maps: El Ramonal, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico
This is a letter written to us by a participant in our March 22-29, 2018 retreat. She has shown us what’s possible; what we are all capable of doing. We are deeply indebted to her.
Hello sister! I’m sitting on my couch here on Easter Sunday still completely humbled by my retreat experience. I’ve been so happy, at peace, and so productive since I’ve been home. Terran and his family are coming here today to have a traditional Easter lunch which I’ve mainly prepared. I was thinking just now and the thought came to my head... I am well. Let me repeat that for the ones in the back... I AM WELL. I haven’t been able to say that in 20+ years at least. I feel grounded, PTSD-free, depression-free, more energetic, and have a greater sense of who I am now. If you ever need or want me to speak to anyone who is having a hard time deciding about the retreat, or just in general, please let me know. I’d be honored to share my experiences throughout this process to healing. I’m a better person having known you all and for having you on my team. Terran and I agree we will be back. This experience has brought us so much closer as well. The deep connection we already shared is only more enhanced now. Please tell the team I love them all so much and thank them and Mother Ayahuasca for saving me. Reborn I am! And fyi... I’m sticking with the diet and NO MOUNTAIN DEW! I’ve lost 16 pounds total. Much gratitude for me being able to be drug free, as I’m off of all psychotropic meds, still. May you all be blessed relentlessly in your quest to bring love and peace to others. Love and blessings, Lindsay Jo xoxo
"A bit about me. I’m 65, a retired railroad switchman, pretty active, and not religious but have some interest in the metaphysical, alternative concepts, and ancient wisdom that has been too long ignored in modern society. To start: Would I do it again? Take a leap of faith? Yes and yes, it not a question of if I participate in another Bluestone Ayahuasca retreat but how soon I go back. Sharon is a wonderful and energetic facilitator who obviously has a strong passion for what she is coordinating. She met us at the Cancun airport and I felt an immediate bond due to her level of caring and energy. The grounds of the retreat were private, comfortable, and well taken care of. The vegan diet we followed all week was quite interesting and I could tell by midweek that my body was enjoying the cleansing effects. I felt lighter and mentally more focused. As an Ayahuasca neophyte I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had read some about the medicine but came into the retreat with no preconceptions and my only agenda was to let the medicine work on me, physically and spiritually. Without getting into specifics of my personal experiences I will say it was interesting, spiritually enlightening, and intense. The music used during the ceremonies is still resonating within me and Arturo’s manner of conducting the ceremony made it a very safe place for the medicine to work on each individual. An Ayahuasca ceremony is nothing to take lightly. It is not a joy ride. But I feel its healing powers are infinite. Within a week after leaving the retreat I was wondering what the dates were for the next one Sharon is coordinating. The facilitators and musicians, Arturo, Sandra, Amina, Lore, David, Juan and Arturo’s parents had an obvious strong passion and deep level of caring for each of us participants and for the ceremonies. The access to healers, intuitives and massage therapists was an additional treat. The sweat lodge ceremonies conducted by Sandra were reminiscent of Lakota sweats I’ve experienced in the past, cleansing and awakening." ~ Tim Swanson
"I have been studying shamanism for a few years and was called to Ayahuasca ceremonies as part of my exploring, learning and ever-expanding journey. As I just turned 50, I felt apprehensive but called upon, it was the perfect time for me to “dare” to invite and accept the teachings of our Pachamama. I could not have found a more perfect setting than the Bluestone Retreat at the Xochipilli Center and more perfect facilitators than Sharon and Arturo the shaman! Sharon is a wonderful organizer and a beautiful being: gathering and creating this space and time, safety and support, understanding and trust for each of us thru the entire week. Arturo and his Xochipilli Center and team (extraordinary Amina, Sandra, Juan and the singers David and Lore) are authentic, experienced and skillful ceremony guides: they provide such a beautiful, caring, understanding and loving setting for each of us on our individual journeys towards healing and expansion. I highly recommend Sharon at Bluestone and the Xochipilli Retreat as a fantastic choice of “doulas” for your new life integration and beginnings. PS: I really felt the retreat was a great deal, real value: price/services offered: airport pick up, accommodations, guidance, ceremonies, massage, food was copious and fulfilling, quality of the center and guides." ~ Muriel Martin
"Attending a Bluestone retreat was the most powerful gift I have ever given myself and the miracle I needed to heal my soul. I was welcomed into a family that embraced me and held me through my process with such freedom and no judgment. I left with clarity, and the tools to make the changes I was seeking in order to be the better version of myself that I had lost through depression and anxiety. Ayahuasca is a gift that I feel blessed to have found; I feel strongly that this is a path everyone should experience.....it has been my miracle and I can’t wait to return to my extended family which I plan to do this coming January." ~ Rabia Buratovic-Nottage
"I met Sharon years ago in Mexico and then we went our different ways. We reconnected about 12 years ago and she was already working with medicine. Seeing the changes in her got me interested and I’ve since attended several retreats she’s organized. The work I’ve done with Ayahuasca has changed my perspective completely and lead me in directions I never imagined and I couldn’t be happier. I am grateful to Madre Ayahuasca and to the whole team at Bluestone and Xochipilli. They are a group of people who understand this work. Thank you." ~ Alicia
"Sharon has been on the medicine path for a long time, gathering experience with Ayahuasca but also with Huachuma, Yopo and Wilka. I have shared many ceremonies and retreats with her, one to Peru which was amazing. She is a sensitive, detail-conscious organizer who deeply cares about the work. I trust her and I’m glad I found her. I continue to work with medicine and with her whenever I have the chance." ~Edith Granada, mother of four
"I came to Ayahuasca searching for a solution to a serious problem. I’d been working with the medicine on an irregular, sporatic basis before attending a retreat with Bluestone at Xochipilli. They suggested a week of concentrated work might give me the boost I needed for I felt stuck. They were right. I came out of that week with a way to move forward. I am grateful; and I’m excited about what comes next—something I haven’t felt in a long time." ~ Oliver
"There have been very few occasions in my life that I can truly say changed my existence. This 7-day retreat is one of those precious experiences. To describe it here would not do it justice, but can simply say I walked away with a new relationship with my soul and life lessons that have already transformed who I am and how I show up in the world. It is a remembering of sorts and a homecoming to who I am and how I can best serve as a leader in creating a better world. Thank you to all who joined the journey with me and the incredible support throughout the week. A special thank you to Sharon, Arturo, Amina, Sandra, Juan, Lore, David! With such deep love and gratitude" ~ Heather
"I have sat with the medicine many times yet never attended a retreat but at this point in my life I felt the call. This was the best decision I ever made for myself. This place is not only beautiful and blessed it is full of love and the staff is genuinely here to serve. You can rest assured you will be taken care of and safe. If you are feeling the call to heal and grow then get out of your mind and live from your heart and trust that this retreat has presented itself as a sign from the universe that it is time. This was the most amazing week of my life, my healing and growth is nothing I could ever articulate in words. I am forever changed and forever grateful. Much love and the deepest thanks." ~
"I really enjoyed my stay at the Bluestone Ayahuasca Retreat. I had I had never done Ayahuasca before. I had a great experience!!! I found the staff to be the best part of my experience. I felt safe and secure knowing I was doing this medicine with professional people who were well experienced with it; the staff were very caring and kind. I found the shamanic drumming and dancing and singing is what really made the experience; it was all so beautiful and exotic, like a trip to heaven for a short period of time--which was so important because some people trying Ayahuasca are dealing with some serious issues and they need that support. I felt it to be a truly authentic native experience; not phony at all; I could have easily been in the South American jungle doing it there. The sweat lodge [temazcal] was also wonderful; very authentic. The whole experience was a wonderful learning curve. We learned all about the history of Ayahuasca, as well as much sharing of spiritual knowledge. It felt it all embracing, that all people needing healing would be accepted at Bluestone. You felt very safe within the compound. The facilities were beautiful and great. Arturo being the ayahuasquero was an amazing man. I felt he was somewhat of a Jesus figure: kind, caring compassionate, non-judgmental. A very sweet man and very knowledgeable. All the staff were amazing!!! Sharon. Juan. Amina. Sandra. Lore and David. All blessed sweet kind souls, only there to see to the healing and growth of others. What a wonderful experience I had. I am coming back in a few months again. This next time bringing a friend.
To experience the new caring wonderful family I made as well. The Ayahuasca trip for me was beautiful.
Easy and enjoyable. When I left, I felt happy. As I learned from the medicine I was on the right path in my life. That I was a good person. Just to continue on my straight road I have been living for many years. So yes, I highly recommend spending time at a Bluestone Ayahuasca Retreat. If you come.
I am sure you will not be disappointed." ~ Kathleen
